This review is from: Sound Forge Audio Studio 9 [OLD VERSION] (DVD-ROM)
I had tried everything, and than found Sony Sound Forge. Version 7.0 has more features than 6.0, and records my old LP's and Cassettes flawlessly. It has enough filters to make even my oldest Beatle albums sound fantastic. Easy to use program also can be used to edit movie soundtracks. Very easy to use, it is invaluable if you want to turn albums into cd's and make them sound like they are brand new. In my opinion, the best feature is that you edit and e.q. on the fly so you can hear the changes as they happen; a feature not included on many editors. Simply the best I've used!

Works great with Vista. Within minutes I was recording perfect cd quality recordings, and one of the easiest programs I've used. I also tried Cakewalk software and spent 3 days update drivers / configs, etc and it still would not work. HOWEVER, This software lacks multitrack capabilities. The extent of the "mixing" that you can do with it is limited to superimposing one pre-recorded track over another one. Another reviewer says you're suppose to use it with Sony's acid program. Thanks for thie info.

Audacity is free and Sony Sound Forge is not, but when you need a few extra features that Audacity doesn't have, and compatibility with loops and products like Sony Acid. This is it. I use both Audacity and Sound Forge as well as Acid. I do voiceacting and voiceovers, as well as books on 'tape'. Having multiple tools allows me options for different projects
