Best sound quality in a bluetooth headset,
By
This review is from: Sound ID 200 Wireless Bluetooth Headset - Cobalt Blue (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I have tried a few bluetooth headsets including the Jabra JX10. The SoundID SM200 is a much more comfortable fit. The voice quality is way better than the Jabra. Folks on the other end of the phone have no idea I am on a headset till I tell them. This is even when I am 10+ feet away from my phone. It is very light to the extent that I sometimes forget I have it on. I hate headphones/earphones cause they bother my ear. The SoundID is the first in-ear headset that I have found to be extremely comfortable. I would have given it a 5 star rating, but for the occasional echo of my own voice. However, this is very rare. I also sometimes hear a slight noise (like a breeze). The micro-USB connection point on the headset appears to be delicate and cheap. But the sound quality, battery life, lightness more than compensate for the issues. Not to mention the low price. I already ordered a second one for my wife. 2 of my friends are buying it too based on my experience.
Pros: * Best sound quality in a bluetooth headset * Very comfortable in the ear * Light-weight (you forget you have it on) * Excellent battery life Cons: * Occasional echo of my voice * Breeze-like noise at times * Charger connector appears fragile Definitely recommended.

I replaced a plantronics unit that stopped working after nine months with the Sound ID 200. The sound quality is much, much better than my old unit. I no longer have people telling me that I sound like I'm underwater. The earpiece also fits in my ear much better and stays put. The only thing that I don't like about this is the location of the button. It's at the back of the device and it can be hard to push when it's in the ear. I'm otherwise very pleased with this device.

Overall, this headset is good. It fits very well in the ear, but the volume control is not very intuitive. It stays in my ear well and has very good reception. If you can deal with learning how to control the headset given limited and un-intuitive buttons, this is a good, solid, headset. The loop holds it in the ear very well with little movement and without having to have a loop around the outside of the ear. Overall 4 stars. Would have been 5 if the volume control was a little more strait-forward.

Mic audio not that good,

This review is from: Sound ID 200 Wireless Bluetooth Headset - Cobalt Blue (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I own/use a Plantronics 925, Jawbone Prime, and Jawbone Icon. The Plantronics fits my ear great, but, doesn't decent noise canceling. Both Jawbones have great audio, but, I found the Jawbone Prime's ear loop fragile and the buttons to be awkward; and found the Jawbone Icon's earloop to really suck (keeps coming off when I take off the headset and the loop gets caught). Hence, I am trying the Sound ID 200 more for its ergonomics.
For my particular ear, I found the Sound ID 200 to fit pretty well using the just the earlobe piece without the loop. Of course, you mileage will vary here. The Sound ID 200's speaker was acceptable to me. Voices came across naturally and the volume levels were fine. Unfortunately the Sound ID 200's mic results in my voice sound noticeably "tinny" to those I'm talking to when compared to the Plantronics and the Jawbones. I didn't find the button use on the Sound ID to be that difficult at all. You do need to read the instructions though. One potential annoyance: the Sound ID 200 does not support initiating voice dialing from the Sound ID 200 like I can on other headsets. The instructions have you push the appropriate voice dialing button your phone to get things going. If the phone or headset happens to be in sleep mode and your bluetooth connection isn't currently active when you do this, you may not get the voice dialing feature to automatically start using the headset. I'm returning the Sound ID 200; it's not performing as well as I would like to replace my other headsets. Might look into the more expensive Sound ID units to see if the microphone quality issue gets addressed.

I really like this headset. It's easy to wear and best of all my wife can hear me as if I was on a land line. She says the road noise is now missing from our conversations. I like it because if moma is happy everyone is happy. I have had about 4 other types and this is one has the best soound quality.

I bought this after reading good reviews of it on Amazon and another website, and I guess it is OK, I have never used another Bluetooth headset so I don't have anything to compare it to.
It stays in my ear really well, I like that you can turn the earpiece so it goes in either your left or right ear. I did not want to get one of the over-the-ear headpieces because I wear sunglasses often when I am driving. I also like that it has a fairly small profile for a Bluetooth earpiece. The battery life is pretty good on it, I can go for about a week without charging it but I don't use it usually for that long so it's on standby mode for much of the time. I have asked people if it sounds OK on the other end, the consensus is that it does sound OK, but they say I sound like I am talking in a long hallway. Setting the earpiece up with my iPhone 3G was very simple, I just followed the directions that came with it and it paired right away. Overall I am pretty happy with it, again I don't have much to compare it to this being the first one that I have used.

I purchased this because I have one which I've being using for over a year without any problem. However, in the past I had purchased several brands which didn't last even for a couple of months. I will strongly recommend this headset.

The Sound ID 200 does very little to improve the life of the consumer. Battery life is no where near the nine days/nine hours of talk time and there seem to be occasional connectivity issues. However it is a nice sleek design and fits well into the ear and the overall sound quality is excellent.

Although the most comfortable headset I have EVER worn, NO ONE could hear me unless it was angles juuuuust right on my face. And worst of all, unless the phone is about 2 ft away from the headset, it will not stay connected. I either had to hold the phone or place in my shirt pocket. I returned it after 1 week.
I DO NOT recommend this headset.

low value for price,

It looks sleek and gets a lot of good reviews, but in my experience, it has not performed to expectation (not that I have particularly high standards). My chief complaints:
1) the little rubber ear pieces that are supposed to hold it in your ear make for a good fit. BUT they incessantly break, forcing you to buy and replace them constantly. 2) it is supposed to offer simplified use with only 2 buttons. BUT it requires you to figure out which combination of buttons to press, how long to hold it, when to let go and what to do next. It makes it surprisingly difficult to use. For example, I want to pair it with the phone but end up turning it off instead. (Does anyone else have this problem or am I just incompetent?) 3) minor annoyance, but often times, it is difficult to tell if it is on or off. So often times, I think its off and I try to turn it on, just to find out that I just turned it off. The different colors on the light are supposed to indicate its current on/off state, but I just never seem to have good luck with it. (Again, may be it is just my incompetence?) However, there are some nice aspects: it looks sleek and is compact, fitting nicely in the ear. Battery life seems to be ok as well. I never found much use for the dual microphone noise reduction capability. People on the phone always told me that they could hear no difference when I used it. As a result of the challenges I found with it, I rarely find myself using it anymore. So the long and the short of it is that I am not very satisfied, certainly not at the price. My personal opinion is that it does not offer good value, considering how much you are forking out on it. I used the Plantronics Voyager 510 before and was quite satisfied with it before I lost it. Yes, it was a little bit large, but very usable, long battery life, etc. And it is less than half the price of this one. Based on my experience, I would recommend that one.
