Finally a Bluetooth Device that Fits!,
By
This review is from: Sound ID 510 Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Over the years I've owned three different good quality bluetooth devices prier to this one and none fit well. One of them being the Blue Ant Q1 which performed great but like I said did not fit well at all. (I tried it for a month before settling on the Sound ID. If you purchase a device from AT&T you can take try it and take it back within 30 days.) Sound ID 510 is snug without being too tight or hurting. It does not feel unstable at all. I have small ears if that helps at all. :)It's performance is great and it's A2DP so I can listen to my audiobooks and music wirelessly. No more cords for me! My favorite feature is its on/off switch. It helps me to know its really on or off saving battery life. As far as battery performance I have not owned it long enough to say as of yet. I will amend this review in a couple weeks. Hope this helps!

I've read a lot of reviews where people say that this bluetooth has very bad re eption and streaming music always cuts out, even with the phone in thier pocket. Well, that is only true if you dont update the bluetooth. I had problems at first, but after i went to soundid.com and updated the firmware from the home page, it was flawless. Even when i have no phone signal, my bluetooth streams music perfectly. I hope this helped everyone out

I have used different headsets, but never the same one twice. I would make an exception for this one. If you have an iPhone, this one has a free application (optional) that goes with it. With the app, I enjoy being able to set the sound quality to my taste. The app also has a feature to find it if it gets misplaced. The phone has a real switch to turn it on/off, no push and hold stuff here, and a nice touch sensitive surface for volume control. This is not too big, light, and comfortable to my ear. Sound quality is great. I can listen to my music, or GPS through it wherever I may be. Also it has a nice range with verbal feedback telling you when it is connected. This is a choice that I don't regret.

I love this bluetooth! It does exactly what I need it to. I've been looking for somthing other than headphone to listen to my ipod on my iPhone. I've also been told that it has excellent sound quality. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to minimize background noise. It's one of the most comfortable bluetooths I've had the opportunity to wear. I REALLY like it.

Only 2 complaints.,
This review is from: Sound ID 510 Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I bought this device because of the reviews I read online. TO ME there are only TWO things that I would change. First and foremost is the App for the device. I'm going to be brutally honest here and say that it SUCKS! It only works when it wants too. Seeing as the device is one of the most expensive, Sound ID definitely needs to work on that. The second thing is there is no caller ID announcement. No biggy, just a recommended change. To me the firmware upgrade was very easy to install so that I was able to listen to my music via AD2P. I do not know what the other review was talking about when they said you had to have a non 64 bit operating system to install it because I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I also do not know why the person said they can not walk further than three feet from the device and still maintain a call. I will leave my iPhone in the other room and venture off while talking and have no interruptions. The distance is awesome. The sound quality is awesome as well. I have talked to people on the phone and they had no idea I was on a headset. I even rolled my window down going 50 mph and my buddy said it still sounded great, no wind noise. I bought a Black one at the at&t store and ended up returning it and bought a White one from Apple. I had to order it through Apple because no Apple store had one when I called, only Black. If it was not for the 2 discrepancies listed above I would give it 5 stars. I highly recommend it. It's comfortable, battery life is great, distance is great, sound quality is great. The App sucks though. Just try it yourself and at&t will gladly take it back no questions asked within thirty days if you are unhappy. Good luck.

I've tried lots of headsets and I have to say this headset is a great device. Easy to use and set up. Great noise cancellation. Plus it's comfortable has multiple different ear tips to choose from and after doing the update I can stream music. Love it!

First Bluetooth headset that works!,
This review is from: Sound ID 510 Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I've tried just about every bluetooth device for my many cell phones throughout the years. You name it, I've tried it. I have a drawer full of dead, barely used devices. It seems like they all suffer from one of two problems, either I can't hear who I'm calling or they can't hear me! Well, let me tell you, this is the first bluetooth headset that actually works. Here are the pros: * It's easy to pair. * The controls are great, for example there is an actual switch to turn the device on or off, no convoluted sequence of holding a button down for a certain amount of time. * Ear piece fits into ear securely with no wiggle (there are various sizes to match your ear) * Volume control is easy to use * A2DP allows you to ear music (or in my case audio books) directly from device through bluetooh * Noise reduction is great on both sides of conversation * Earprint iPhone app is nice and lets you fine tune noise reduction, really seems to improve the quality of calls. Cons: * Not really a negative, but there is a feature called "Environmental Mode" which will transmit ambient sound directly through the earpiece, almost as a hearing aid, to me it just seems to introduce some extra noise, but to some it may be useful. Overall, I'm very happy with my Sound ID 510 and highly recommend it.

Great tool. No background or road noise detected by callers (I've asked). Simple to set up and to use. Battery time is good, easy to recharge. Love being able to listen to music through this earpiece!

Feature Rich, Works Great with iPhone,

This is the second bluetooth headset I've ever owned. The first was a cheap Motorola.I had every intention of buying an Aliph Jawbone to compliment my iPhone 3G, but a co-worker told me about the App developed by Sound ID which added features when used with the iPhone. I bought the SoundID 510, and after pairing it in the Bluetooth panel, I opened the App and played around. I had to update the firmware, which was very easy to do with the provided USB cable and an internet connection. The App is free, and is nice, but it really doesn't do anything to improve the performance of the headphone. This is okay, though, as the headset really performs well regardless. It's light in the ear, stays in place well and has more than enough volume to understand conversations clearly. The controls are intuitive enough, but the touch-sensor that can turn the volume up or down is sort of finicky. It's far easier to just use the volume on the phone that it's paired with. I love the fact that the on/off switch is just that. No more waiting for the headset to shut itself off while your battery drains. Getting back to the iPhone App: Many people complain that the App never connects to the headset, but for the App to work, you have to pair the headset with the phone first, and make sure the headset is ON when you activate the App. The App itself has some cool features such as audio fine-tuning, in-call preferences, battery level indicator and a locator function which progressively amplifies the volume emitted by the headset until you can find out where you left it laying (assuming it was turned on when you lost it). However, the firmware/App process for upgrading this headset is a nightmare. To get the App and the headset to work together: 1. Go to your computer and download the latest firmware installer from SoundID. You'll need to do this every time there's an App Update on your phone. 2. Plug in the headset to your computer and run the firmware update. A tinkering process. 3. Forget the device in your phone's bluetooth settings and then re-pair the headset. So, if your iPhone cues you that he app has been updated, it won't work until you update the firmware in the headset. A pain. All in all, I think this is a great headset, and from its basic function of providing clear conversation in and out, it's really good. The added features are nice, but should not be the sole reason to buy this headset. It shines on sheer performance. It's just a little bit over priced; I think it needs to be in the sub-$100 range. |
