Book Description

Illustrated Read-along Study Book and Audiocassette. The Sound of Money is a 40-minute musical for youth about economics and working together. A ship full of kids crashes on a deserted island; they must take stock of their natural resources and create an economy from the ground up. In the process, they discover the importance of community. They learn that an economy is nothing more than each person satisfying the needs of his neighbors. By the end of the story, they are ready to begin exporting the goods they have made. A wonderfully entertaining teaching tool created in collaboration with the Wisconsin Council of Economic Educators. Complete Teacher's Kit, Classroom Musical, accompaniment tapes and related study materials are available from the publisher. Children: Grades 3-8.
