4.0 out of 5 stars This book has it all!, May 22, 1999

This review is from: The Sound of Music (Vocal Score) (Paperback)
As a musical theatre performer, I found this score to be complete and a wonderful tool for auditions (especially the not-so-well-known songs that didn't appear in the movie version).

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful and complete!, June 9, 2011

The Sound of Music Easy Guitar has it all!!! I'm so pleased with the book. It contains all the songs from the movie plus one extra song ("An Ordinary Couple"). It has the lyrics, the scores and tablatures for each song. Also includes some photos from the film, along with a chart of strums and pick patterns, which are very useful for beginners. Guitar chords diagrams are included for each song on the top of the page, though the standard chord notation is used through the score. Tablatures are great for beginners, as we can do some nice fingerstyle with no need to read music. One relevant thing: very good chord arrangements, but maybe "too many chords" for a beginning guitar player. I was shocked at first when I saw 17 different chords for "Sixteen going on seventeen"!!! I'm a beginner myself, and I thought the book "Easy guitar" was meant to be with easy chords. Don't be wrong. The "Easy guitar" on the title is referred to the fingerstyle arrangements, which are for first level guitar players. At the beginning, I needed someone to simplify the chords for me. But now I've been making progress I can play the original chord arrangement very happily!! Really good purchase and definetely good price!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sound of Music - full score, August 2, 2008

This review is from: The Sound of Music (Vocal Score) (Paperback)
This is the stage version of the Sound of Music - not the film version - so songs are slightly different in that they are in a different order and also characters have songs in the stage play who don't in the film. I'm in an am dram group and are staging this in October 2008. I wanted the full score so I had something to keep afterwards and this is perfect. It was also much more reasonably priced than I thought it would be and also compared to others who had bought it previously. It is very hard to get hold of in UK, and most people try to get it from USA. Highly recommended.

I'm not a great fan of the music, but it is fun to play. It is a nice combination of music.
