An American Sound for A European Import..., August 25, 1999
By A Customer
There's something very addictive about this import c.d. ; Maybe it's the catchy lyrics or the suave and sophisticated manner in which the songs were written and performed. There's even a ballad entitled Midnight Sun which doesn't disappoint the listener or drag down the theme or continuity of this dance album. Hubert Kah is greatly known in Europe for their top dance hits of the mid to late eighties as well as their affiliation with other artists such as Enigma and Sandra in Europe. The lead singer for Hubert Kah is German singer Hubert Kemmler whose voice sounds like a more refined version of 80's synthesizer guru Howard Jones and possibly ex-Wham member turned solo-artist George Michael. Even the style of the music is somewhat reminiscent of ABC (Lexicon of Love). The best tracks are Welcome, Machine Gun, Cathy, Carrousel, Midnight Sun, and Sound of My Heart (title-track). This import c.d. should not only be for collectors of 80's dance club music but for anyone who ever dismissed European dance/ r&b for fear of heavy European accents; The music and artists sound very " American" even though they've often been compared to other British/European artists. This stuff is top rate; It's Euro, R & B, Dance, Pop, New Wave at its best with an American flavor!

Pleasant Synth Pop with an 80s Sound, December 21, 2005
This review is from: Sound of My Heart (Audio CD)
I discovered Hubert Kah on my local alternative radio station. "Machine Gun" and "Cathy" were always on their rotation in the early-mid 90s. Hubert Kah is German, but their lyrics are in English. The melody and rhythms of this CD are structured and discliplined, almost like a march, but very pleasant and well produced. "Machine Gun" and "Cathy" are definitely my favorites. I think if you can find it on iTunes, those two songs alone are worth downloading.

Dance, Sing and Listen: 3 in 1, April 16, 2006
Music that has come from the German scene, is different from that found elsewhere. The 1980s were a highly succesful decade for many German artists, from Nena, Scorpions, to Sandra (and Co.), Helloween, Camouflage, U96, Modern Talking, Scooter, and many many others. There is something about music written by the Hubert Kah band that is worth attending and listening to. This is an album which comes after the Tensongs album of 1986, which gave us the slow tempo dance hit Limousine. This album is very danceable, Cretu has done a lot of good sounding producer's work on this.
This album has some points which sound interesting not only for the feet but also for the ear. I sometimes marvel at the productivity which came from these men, also known for co-working with Sandra, Michael Cretu, Two of Us (another project in which Hirschburger was involved_, in the 1980s. A total of nearly 10 albums in a matter of thre years or so. And they're songs we know very well.
Highly recommended.
