I wish i would have thought of this months ago when the worst insomnia of my life started (it eventually brought me to tears and my doctor's office). I am a busy mom and started to stay up later and later to get things done, and rely more and more heavily on caffeine. i tried to quit for 2 weeks, to no avail. The doctor had reccommended trying to sleep separate from my husband since the cycle had gotten so bad i was very sensitive to noises he made during my internal clock's prime sleep time in the morning (even our air purifier which makes a loud white noise didn't help). Anyway, this machine really helps me clear my mind as the product description states. i am usually overwhelmed with lists and things i need to get done. I am getting longer and better quality sleep with this machine. When i wake up during the night(which is less now) i am able to get back to sleep faster. I am definately back to my normal self of being able to fall back asleep when my husband makes a noise in the morning. I have less stress overall because of the quality of sleep i am getting.

It is developed by sleep specialists, and my favorite FAVORITE features are.....the light dims or turns off (i like the room dark, and i learned this at my own professional conferences that our systems are meant to sleep in the dark...), the sound slows down and reduces in volume level to lull you to sleep (the alarm has the same feature, in reverse!!). I've only had this a few nights (though i had borrowed a friend's rain sound off her machine when she spent the night, before i decided to check into one of these myself). My favorite sounds are the delta and alpha waves that come with this model(S-650). I think it's nice to have LOTS of sounds, because some nights one sound "fits" my mood better to help me sleep, and another "fits" better the next night. I also like the rain, thunderstorm, and the chime/crickets (reminds me of my grandparent's cottage in the woods near the lake/swamps when growing up!).

The time and alarm are a little hard to set, but it's such a little annoyance compared to the great features of this machine. i had no problem setting the time/alarm, as i just went slower when my desired time came closer. It's a simple device, but i'm glad i read the manual, as it didn't take long to read and did a great job of quickly describing all my favorite features. this is the BEST sleep sound system out there. It's higher quality sound than most. my kids have a cheap homedics, which they like....and we've used at hotels, and it works fine to drown out noise, BUT the sound oasis is definately developed with sleep science (and adults) in mind and worth the price. I was able to get mine with a few coupons at a local store (but it is worth full price and more). I do LOVE amazon, the amazon website, and buy many things at amazon....do they accept competitors coupons? THANK YOU to the sleep specialists who founded and put thought into this device!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I will eventually be upgrading my kid's cheaper machine to this one, as i think their sleep will be better quality as well.

I love the Sound Oasis Sound Therapy System, I got it for my husband for Christmas because sometimes he has trouble falling asleep because of random 'house' noises. He has used it every night since then, and I love going to sleep with gentle thunderstorms. That one is his favorite. Mine are the soft chimes with crickets, and I will put that one on in the bedroom even during the day when I'm in there not sleeping, I love it ! In short , I love it and I would buy it again.
