Great Text but Image Size Wanting,

This review is from: The Sound of One Hand: Paintings and Calligraphy by Zen Master Hakuin (Hardcover)
I have just received and am enjoying reading this book and perusing the wonderful images.
My humble opinion is that the book would benefit from a larger format to enable a better presentation of images. The book "The Art of Zen" is a case in point. Great text also but better presentation of images. That said, this is still a great book with images unavailable elsewhere or otherwise difficult to source. Would love the exhibition on which the book is based to come to Australia! We have a great modern art gallery right here in Brisbane!

This review is from: The Sound of One Hand: Paintings and Calligraphy by Zen Master Hakuin (Hardcover)
This is a monumental work. It introduces to the USA the work of Hakuin; the most influential, Japanese Zen master in the last 500 years. For anyone interested in Zen or Zen arts this is a treasure house which will that will take many readings to unpack. It is written extremely clearly and not in Zen or art speak. The book is the companion to an exhibition currently at Japan Society in New York which will travel next year to New Orleans and then to LA.
