I was pleasantly surprised by the tight sound on the Weather Machines' debut album. The vast majority of current indie music feels to me like pretentious, derivative cowtowing to post-punk and new wave icons. The Sound of Psuedoscience offers bright, anthemic tunes that are both informed by rock and roll heritage and orginal. "Modern Text On Love" is bound to be picked up by college radio sooner or later, but it is by no means the only gem found here. As for the modest rating and negative review offered by the Ohio curmudgeon, I doubt that the Weather Machines were trying to imitate the polished sound of Pharrell Williams or The Matrix. I am sure that the latest Hillary Duff album will offer him the high quality production values that he is seeking. The rest of us who like our rock and roll just a little raw will appreciate the Weather Machines and look forward to their next effort.

I had the chance to see these guys in a small, crowded bar in my hometown
of Rapid City, South Dakota. They gave every song a concrete beat, which
is necessary for a good band. I like a noticeable drum beat with my emo! Just like I need ketchup on my hot dog. This cd is great for shopping around the thrift shops or falling in love with life. It has it's sexy
qualities as well. Lead singer has confidence to tell an old story in a
new way. Love this album, love this band.

the record rocks in its own way, without announcing itself as too much rock. think of old school music circa 77/78 with all that earnest good humor and you have it. it feels good with all the windows down, and some slight wind.

The Weather Machines have hit the proverbial nail right on the head with their debut, "The Sound of Pseudoscience." These South Dakota rockers play a tight, resonating style of high-brow indie music for the those rockers who like to be challenged by their music. Just wish we could see these guys play down south sometime.

the weather machines' "The Sound of Pseudoscience" is the best CD i've heard in months. refreshing, poppy licks like "modern text on love" are countered by introspective (yet still extremely rocking) tunes like "stains of saints". overall a very satisfying purchase.

Sadly, not a compelling tune in the lot. Some songs are listenable, but still nothing much to write home about, or here, for that matter.

I was disappointed, and hope they hire a professional recording engineer (and get a REAL producer, too) for their next effort. I might have better things to say, then.
