5.0 out of 5 stars the best sleep I've found after a very long search...
I read the other reviews, and I can see that people have very different needs, in terms of what sort of sounds help put them to sleep. I have to say, the synthesized music on this CD is not what I would normally listen for enjoyment, but the effects were and continue to be phenomenal for me. My sleep got really disrupted after an accident, and I would again and again...

1.0 out of 5 stars Does Not Produce Clamed Outcomes in the Listener.
This tape consists only of tones and synthesized sounds. No spoken word or guided imagry. Produced none of the claimed effects. Recorded sounds such as rain, spring ponds, crickets or ocean waves much more helpful. Soft music such as the Pacheble "Canon" produces more sleep-inducing relaxation. Save your money. Wish I had!

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Sound Sleep: Relax for Deep Sleep (Audio CD)
I read the other reviews, and I can see that people have very different needs, in terms of what sort of sounds help put them to sleep. I have to say, the synthesized music on this CD is not what I would normally listen for enjoyment, but the effects were and continue to be phenomenal for me. My sleep got really disrupted after an accident, and I would again and again become hopeful, and enticed by some "new CD" at an alternative book store or on the Internet, that promised sleep, only to be dissappointed.
This CD really seems to put me into a deep sleep, even when I wake up in the middle of the night, and I am very grateful. If my mind is racing, I remind myself to just listen to the sound of the music, pay attention to the music, and most times I fall gracefully and gratefully back to sleep.
I hear other reviewers being dissappointed, in different ways. but I'll tell you, if you have a serious sleep challenge, what is $15 or $20? I say try it out. If it doesn't work, check out what natural recorded sounds help you to relax. Sometimes, just being able to lay there and relax, even if you don't fall back to sleep has positive benefits.

Once I used this CD once, and had such positive results, the CD became so precious to me, that I made a copy for myself to use, so that the original would never wear out! Now, I don't travel without it.

Helpful hint. If you tend to wake up in the middle of the night or morning, keep a small flashlight by your bed, (I keep a small magnalight under my pillow) so that you can easily find it by touch, in the dark. Have your CD player set up with the CD, next to your bed, and train yourself to recognize, as soon as you are aware that you're awake, to turn on this CD, rather than feeling mad or frustrated, or despairing about your exhaustion, or even feeling too tired to roll over and put on the CD. Doing this has greatly reduced the amount of my disrupted sleep per night. I also keep a jar of the herbal "Serenity" tincture, with Kava Kava, made by Gaia herbs, and if my heart is pounding, I take a dropper full straight (many people prefer to put a dropperful in a 1/4 cup of water)
We're all different, and what works for me may not work for you, but keep trying and I pray that you find a way to regain, as much as possible, a healthy, normal sleep. Ahhhhhhhhh!

I had some initial difficulty falling asleep while listening to this tape because I am not used to wearing ear phones to bed. Once asleep, however, this tape consistently induces the most delightful and joyful dreams...often of flying. It makes sleeping a whole different experience!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing product!, March 12, 2007
This review is from: Sound Sleep: Relax for Deep Sleep (Audio CD)
This is one of my favorite binaural beat programs, and every time I listen to it before and during sleep, I wake up feeling like I got 2 extra hours! So If I get 6 hours of sleep, I'll feel like I got 8! The benefits from this cd are absolutely amazing, there is no supplement or drug out there that could improve your quality of sleep as much as this audio program.

occasionally I go a day without listening to this cd, and I wake up feeling like I didn't get as much sleep, and it reminds me how much of a difference it makes.

the music in the background is also great. If you want to improve your sleep quality, than definitely look into purchasing this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Yes it will help you sleep, October 29, 2008
This review is from: Sound Sleep: Relax for Deep Sleep (Audio CD)
I got both the Sound Sleep and Deep Sleep from Kelly Howell. I prefer the deep sleep. But if I just need to unwind, release a little tension, maybe take a short doze on the couch, I will use this tape. I really think it is a preference thing. The deep sleep one seems to knock me out 9 out of 10 times. The Sound Sleep seems to ease my tension. There is no talking on either cd. It's new agey peaceful music, earthy.

I would say that if you just seem to need to drift away from reality for a little while in order to fall asleep, this would be fine. If you need a little back noise for sleeping this will certainly help. If you need to de-stress.

I bought this thinking it would be relaxing but I couldn't get to sleep until I shut it off. It's really creepy-sounding, like bad horror movie music. I returned it the next day.

Howell's "Guided..." relaxation, etc tapes/CDs are better. I haven't used it much but it could be worse. There's no tinkling piano doing riffs as far as I recall.

OKAY, FIRST I will tell you what you want to hear -

IT DOES WORK.

However, I must warn you (at least from my personal experience with it), that how much you listen to it will affect how much sleep you will get.

When I used it, I decided to try it out for only ten minutes. That night I slept for a full five hours and woke up around one or two feeling a little bit droopy in the eyes still. I had to drink a cold glass of water to lift the heaviness from my eyes, because I wanted to work on something, like I always do, when I get up really early.

Then, the second night, when I woke up around two, I decided to play it again for ten minutes, because I couldn't go back to sleep. The music did indeed put me to sleep, but it KEPT me feeling sleepy for the next five to six hours later! So if your job requires that you get up early, like around six or seven, I highly don't recommend that you listen to this cd after one a.m. I now only play it for only five minutes, because that allows me to go asleep but still wake up feeling good.

I honestly, can not imagine how tired and sleepy I would still feel right now if I had listened to this cd for a full 60 minutes!!

I think that I would sleep for three days straight!!!!!!!
