Who is Gary Usher?, April 2, 2005

I think nobody outside of California has ever heard of Gary Usher. Why not? I'm discovering the genius of Gary Usher some 40 years after the fact. He was heavily involved with the California music scene in the 60's, even co-writing with The Beach Boys! Who hasn't heard of the Beach Boys? This CD is a tribute to Gary Usher and the sounds he produced in the studio. Some of the cuts are The Hondells (one of Gary's groups) songs with new lyrics. Some songs were finished just the tape began rolling. Glen Campbell was one of Gary's studio guitarists and is on several cuts on this CD. If you're collecting Car Culture songs of the 60's, this CD - the ONLY album devoted to slot car racing - is a must!
