5.0 out of 5 stars Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks...together again
In my opinion, Lindsey Buckingham is severly and criminally under-rated as a guitar player. He has one of the smoothest tones my ears have ever heard. His solos are so fluid they just reach in you and suck you in. A very incredible guitar player and on the classic rock, and melodic level he is a personal favorite of mine. 3.0 out of 5 stars Better late than never
I have been a Lindsey Buckingham fan since 1976. I have all of his LP's and CD's. This DVD would have been great back in the late 1990's. That said I have played this DVD once and have filed it away. The Fleetwod Mac Reunion concert from the 1990's represent to me Lindsey Buckingham at his peak. I have played that disk numerous times and still enjoy watching it. If you do...

And watching him perform live is always a treat. This show is extrodinary, fantastic son selection, and Stevie Nicks does appear for a couple of tunes. A nice addition to ones Fleetwood Mac collection, and a worthy sucessor to the Fleetwood Mac Live in Boston concert released way earlier in the year. Set list is as follows:

Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind
Trouble
Big Love
Go Insane
Down On The Rodeo
Peacekeeper
Red Rover
Never Going Back Again (w/Stevie Nicks)
Say Goodbye (w/Stevie Nicks)
Murrow Turning Over in his Grave
Go Your Own Way

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth it!, November 25, 2005
This review is from: Sound Stage Presents - Lindsey Buckingham With Special Guest Stevie Nicks (DVD)
If you like Lindsey Buckingham, or his Fleetwood Mac songs, at all, buy this. If you're one of those diehards who think half the songs have been done better, you're probably right. Everyone has a favorite performance. You should STILL buy it. Why?

1. "Murrow (Turning Over In His Grave)" performed for most likely the first and last time ever. Anyone who thinks LB isn't up-to-date should listen to this song, too.

2. The unreleased Gift Of Screws demos: "Down On Rodeo", "Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind", and "I Am Waiting". These are almost relics; at the time this was recorded, LB was possibly going to use studio versions of those on his "upcoming" solo album (which ended up becoming FM's Say You Will). Now, they'll probably never be heard again. "Down On Rodeo" has some amazing guitar parts...

3. "Trouble". Yes, you've heard the album version. This version is BETTER.

If those 3 reasons don't work, Buckingham Nicks fans may want to consider that Stevie (in her over-touted, but still good, guest spot) sings a line from "Frozen Love".

You will not regret it if you buy this. Lindsey Buckingham is, if anything, possibly MORE passionate about his music than ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buckingham's Back, November 13, 2005
This review is from: Sound Stage Presents - Lindsey Buckingham With Special Guest Stevie Nicks (DVD)
I ordered this back in September and was furious when the date was set back from Oct 4 to Nov 8. It was well worth the wait. Buckingham opens with "Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind", a very unknown song from the "Reprise Records Presents Music For
The 12th Annual GLAAD Music Awards" Disc. In my oppinion a wonderful song that I'm sure not many (besides die-hard buckingham fans like myself" have heard. Then his biggest solo hit, "trouble" which i think competes with the actual studio recording. Then his next two acoustic performances that always seem to follow one another "Big Love" and solo hit "Go Insane", before which Buckingham follows his tradition of reading the poem "Sardonic World". Then one of the best songs Buckingham has ever done, "Down On Rodeo", an unreleased song that was supposed to go on his "Gift Of Screws" album that never came to be. Following are Say You Will hits "Peacekeeper" which i found to be a little to slowly paced but still great, and another classic "Red Rover". Cue Nicks. Stevie walks out and sure enough everyone in the whole place explodes with applause as the Fleetwood Mac-ites reunite again. They sing the classic Mac hit "Never Going Back Again" followed by a very special treat for Buckingham Nicks Fans (Again, like Fleetwood Mac, I am a huge Buckingham Nicks fan) Stevie begins the song "Frozen Love" which is the song that got them into the Mac in the first place. It is cut short after the second line by Stevie saying "Thats all I remember!!" a funny little moment followed by laughs and applause. Then what i consider Lindseys "Landslide", is "Say Goodbye", a very well crafted piece written about Ms. Nicks herself. The two can hardly look away from eachother the whole time. Then it is bye bye to Stevie and back to Lindsey who plays "Murrow Turning Over In His Grave" off Say You Will, which he says is about the media and how TV is used in bad ways and how Ed R Murrow is probably turning over in his grave about it. Then of course, Buckinghams most well known song, "Go Your Own Way" which is performed very differently than ever before but is still done astoundingly. Thats all folks. Or is it? The DVD also has two bonus songs "Steal Your Heart Away"- another favorite on Say You Will and then a Rolling Stones Cover called "I Am Waiting". What Buckingham does with that song is absolutely amazing. The verses are a bit repetitive but the chorus makes the whole song worth listening to. All in all it deserves 5 stars for a wonderful show.

Lindsey is a pleasure to watch and listen to. Like another reviewer here, I fully agree that Lindsey is so under-rated as a guitar player. Oooooo, and when that familiar FM guitar sound comes in, I feel all cozy inside. I see Lindsey as both FM and an experimental solo artist, of which are both displayed here on this DVD. Great form, Lindsey!

Too bad Stevie didn't hang around longer.

5.0 out of 5 stars They improve with age!, January 9, 2007
This review is from: Sound Stage Presents - Lindsey Buckingham With Special Guest Stevie Nicks (DVD)
I've always been a Fleetwood Mac fan having seen them 2 years ago in Worcester, Mass. and Boston, Mass. Both shows were awesome! Looking forward to their next Concert Tour which I hope is this year. They don't miss a beat. What would make this Concert complete would be the return of Christine McVee. Anyone that purchases "Soundstage" will not be sorry, it's great. Lindsey outdoes himself and Stevie was the appropriate guest.

This is a great DVD. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys Fleetwood Mac. I am a HUGE fan of Stevie Nicks and truly enjoyed watching her with him during the two songs that they sang together. I have most of the Fleetwood Mac performances available on DVD and this is a great addition to my collection.

Great performance, leaves one (read:me) longing for a solo album. It's unfortunate that we only get two songs from the always-in-production solo album: "Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind" and "Down On Rodeo." Nice to see Big Love and Go Insane paired up again; taken together, a total tour-de-force of the fingers. Stevie Nicks comes out for two songs, the stronger of which is most certainly Say Goodbye, where their voices line up just right. And Red Rover was far more interesting here than on the 2004 Fleetwood Mac tour. We're waiting for that album, Lindsey ...

5.0 out of 5 stars Lindsey Buckingham is awesome !!, October 25, 2005
This review is from: Sound Stage Presents - Lindsey Buckingham With Special Guest Stevie Nicks (DVD)
I saw this on PBS last month. Lindsey is absolutely wonderful - I always get so mesmerized on how Lindsey can play the guitar. He never gets the respect that he so very well deserves as a singer, guitarist, songwriter, producer. This man can do it all !!! Stevie Nicks was great, also - she always looks and sings so beautifully.

This is going to make a great addition to any Fleetwood Mac, or especially Lindsey Buckingham fans ( like myself) collection.
