Predictable...but fun,
By Nathan Christian (Pitcairn, PA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Sound Of Thunder (DVD)
Very formulatic but entertaining story with well a very good cast. One draw back was some of the plot holes. At one point the two main characters fall from a window hundreds of yards and slam into a huge tree branch with out a bruise or broken ribs. And some of the dinosaurs do not appear real in the day light scenes.
On the plus side, Edward Burns is a very good actor and you get to view him in his underwear a few times. However, he has a terrible speaking voice But over all, a pretty good movie and a good rental at least.

Ray Bradbury is awesome!,

Although the movie isn't exactly like the short story, it's still great because Ray Bradbury was involved with the screenplay. The complications presented by a slight change in the past through man's ability to travel through time should make everyone ask himself if it would really be worth it if it were possible. Most of the special effects are amazing. The street scenes, however, lack the quality of the rest of the movie. That would be my only criticism. Otherwise, it's typically thought-provoking Ray Bradbury quality.

You'll Need A Lot Of Imagination,

This review is from: A Sound Of Thunder (DVD)
I caught this movie on the SciFi Channel where every two hours of programming includes about an hour of commercials so who knows how much they took out.
This movie is ok but like many science fiction movies it has to throw in some crazy ideas to get the story to work. For example the owner of the time machine had turned off an important piece of equipment to save money on his electric bill. By doing that he almost destroyed the entire world. The main premise is somebody removed something from another time 65 million years ago and this changed the entire course of evolution. However it's not clear to me how doing this would have caused such a catastrophe. Then again who knows what would happen if we went back in time and brought any physical object back into this time if that is even possible. It's confusing because when they enter the time machine they seem to be standing on a sidewalk that isn't really part of that other time.
