5.0 out of 5 stars Nathan Haines kills on this album!, May 24, 2003
By

This review is from: Sound Travels (Audio CD)
On this album Nathan proves that he is a very talented guy. Not that he needed to prove it, but for those of you out there who haven't heard him sing, check out impossible beauty. His voice is like liquid silk. I'm not kidding, my jaw just drops whenever I hear him sing. But all his other talents as a saxophonist, writer to name a few just shine. Easy to listen to, with a lot of variation to hold your interest, this is a must have album!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nathan Haines - Sound Travels, February 24, 2011
This review is from: Sound Travels (Audio CD)
Nathan Haines, longtime member of the Restless Soul posse, drops his solo debut, Sound Travels, and true to the lyrics of the track "Long..." -- it's been a long time. Thoroughly infused with soul and bursting with energy, this album marks Haines as an electronic musician in his own right. His breaks are tight and complement the main themes of his music well. But Haines isn't afraid to break out of those strictures, either: "Impossible Beauty" is a late-night jazz torch song that sounds like it came straight from the 1920s, while "Honeycomb" is a Latin-tinged dub track. Obviously, the standout track is the sublime "Earth is the Place," with its enchanting vocals and solid groove, but "Believe" comes a close second runner-up with its uplifting message. A beautiful album all around, so pack your bags!

5.0 out of 5 stars This man is amazing, October 21, 2006

This review is from: Sound Travels (Audio CD)
Nathan Haines is a diversely talented musician. As well as writing songs, he plays flute and saxophone and even sings on a few tracks.
This album is a little kooky, but I love it!
And he's from New Zealand!
Trivia: Nathan played on Jamiroquai's new album Dynamite (Track: "Talullah").
