5.0 out of 5 stars Get acquanted w/ the best live band around...period
I've been trying to get people on board the STS9 train for some time now, this DVD makes it a whole lot easier. A brilliant concotion of electonica, rock, with funk and jazz influences - STS9 has quickly become the best live show around - Nobody else even comes close. This review is from: Sound Tribe Sector 9: Live as Time Changes (DVD)
I've been trying to get people on board the STS9 train for some time now, this DVD makes it a whole lot easier. A brilliant concotion of electonica, rock, with funk and jazz influences - STS9 has quickly become the best live show around - Nobody else even comes close. Like many live music oriented bands, seeing the show and simply hearing the show are two very different experiences. This DVD is sure to turn even the most violent skeptics into avid followers of the band. BUY THIS DVD and get acquanted with the most original/exciting act to come around in years, maybe even decades.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Refreshing Live DVD for a change, June 26, 2009
This review is from: Sound Tribe Sector 9: Live as Time Changes (DVD)
So this band, Sound Tribe Sector 9, has been around for quite some time. I had several friends and some family members fall in love with these guys quite a few years ago, and I had seem a couple of times in outdoor settings, at a few festivals. I really never got the hype honestly, until I saw them at the Tabernacle two New Years runs ago. And well, they really are a phenomenally amazing band that shines so much brighter in an indoor setting.

Ever since then, I have been borderline obsessed, ok, maybe fully obsessed with their music! It just takes me to a place that no other music does, and is almost therapeutic its so good. And, as far as this DVD goes, I finally broke down and bought it a month or so ago, and needless to say, I was not let down. This is the perfect way for someone to see how awesome the band is. The angles they got with the cameras are really awesome and it does a good job of showing the crowd, which when there in person, almost seems like it moves as if it was a living entity all on its own.

If you like this band, definitely cop this DVD. And if you have never seen these guys live and electronic music is your thing, you must go check them out and have your mind blown. If you can ever get them at this venue specifically, (The Tabernacle in Atlanta), do so with no questions asked. Regardless of ticket price. If youre skeptical at all, watch this DVD and it will get the point across. And remember, this was filmed over 3 years ago, so the band has evolved even since then. Their songs are much more mature now, and even several of the songs on this DVD have blossomed into newer versions that the ones from 2005 do not them justice.

I love this band, and I love this DVD. Get into STS9, everyone else has.

5.0 out of 5 stars wakarusa 2011, February 24, 2011
This review is from: Sound Tribe Sector 9: Live as Time Changes (DVD)
The first time i saw STS9 was live at camp bisco, i won this DVD autographed by the band at their show in Baltimore, Maryland. Everytime i watch it, it gives me the same vibe I feel at their shows. I love the song selection and the lasers are amazing. I cant wait to see them this summer at Wakarusa Festival 2011. Hope to see everyone there!

5.0 out of 5 stars Recieved as a gift - not disappointed!, December 18, 2009

STS9 jams in this DVD. If you are expecting this to rival the live experience then approach with caution, but that's not to say this show can't be thoroughly enjoyed from your couch. The footage is great and really gets you up close to the band the entire ride.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soundtribe!!!!, January 25, 2009
This review is from: Sound Tribe Sector 9: Live as Time Changes (DVD)
STS9 is IMO the best live music act today. They have been touring for years and they always come here to the midwest. This disc gives you a small tatse of what to expect at a live performance. Infused with electronica and acoustics, STS9 is a jam band to be taken seriously. Hands down they are the best at peaking their songs, meaning that each song has that build up that just explodes over the final few minutes of the tune. The word energy comes to mind as the band and crowd feed off each other and it's the best atmosphere I've been to for a concert setting. They tour year round and they are always spot on perfection. This disc has good picture quality and great sound quality. It's filmed in their hometown Atlanta over NYE. Highly reccomended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great band, decent footage, HORRIBLE sound mix!, January 30, 2012
This review is from: Sound Tribe Sector 9: Live as Time Changes (DVD)
STS9 is an outstanding band and, if you're casually watching this DVD and not listening to intently to the mix, you'll likely find this DVD to be enjoyable. However, if you are looking for a concert DVD that will provide you with a great sound mix, you should avoid this one. At various points throughout the disc, the mix actually swells up and down and provides the viewer with an extremely uneven listening experience. There are examples throughout the DVD, but "Warrior" should provide you with the evidence you need.

As for the visuals, as another reviewer said, there are too many crowd shots. I honestly don't care to watch Johnny Fratboy twirling his way to poseur bliss - I'd much rather just see the band performing. Not terrible, but not great.

Hopefully, STS9 will do a better job the next time out.

Poor choices of songs included, too much "at the show" footage of inebriated 'nine kids', and simply not that tremendous of a show to begin with. Murph should never pick up the mic either.
