5.0 out of 5 stars Sound & Vision
This is a pretty good magazine. I notice that they mostly review high end equipment with high end price tags. I might have to look for a magazine that reveiws items more in my price range. I mean common, a projector for $85,000?!

2.0 out of 5 stars So-So Magazine
It's not the worst magazine that I've subscribed to, but the reviews and articles are usually about high-end equipment that are maybe affordable to the top 5-10% of working Americans. In addition, the articles seem more like advertisements than reviews, with little explanation of the technology behind the products.

If you have a lot of money to spend on very highly priced equipment, and want a few suggestions on which expensive components to purchase, this may be the magazine for you. However, if you are an average consumer looking for sound advice on a variety of equipment, this is certainly not a publication for you. Keep looking for another magazine.

This magazine reads like it's just quoting from press releases. It does not seem to be a neutral or well informed source of information.

1.0 out of 5 stars Only 8 issues per year, October 21, 2011
This review is from: Sound & Vision (1-year) (Magazine)
I've been a subscriber of this magazine for over 40 years. You used to get a new issue monthly and I looked forward to each and every issue. Then it changed to 10 issues per year and now it's down to only 8. Of course, the price remains the same. I got so used to not receiving it that it was hardly noticeable when I dropped my subscription. The part the toasts me most is that I paid for a 3 year subscription when you got monthly magazines. Then they cut the number of magazines. What a rip. When I contacted the company they hardly seemed to care, and did nothing to rectify my situation.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dissappointed, July 23, 2011

The magazine content is what it is. If you want to read it, then you will enjoy it. That being said, the company has harrassed me for further subscriptions and failed to deliver what I paid for saying that the subscription had expired after one issue. I am aware that independent firms handle subscription sales and the company that I purchased the subscription from was apparently dirtbags.

1.0 out of 5 stars ZZZzzzzzzz....., July 19, 2011

I got this because it was a special offer for a very low price and I do have some mild, amateur-level interest in this type of stuff. I do also like to read magazines, newspapers, stories on all kinds of stuff. I have zero interest in anything I've seen in these magazines so far, just really, really boring stuff to me. You'd think there would be SOMETHING, but nope. I guess it's really just for people that are professionals or way, way into this stuff. Maybe this isn't a fair review but it's my opinion of the magazine so just consider the source.

I wish I could review this magazine property, but I never received a single copy. What a waste. Thanks Amazon for failing to property order this on my behalf.

New Update: I finally started receiving this magazine. It took them 2 months, but they started coming regularly now. The latest issue about the Beattles Re-issues is very good and does a great job of pointing out the benefits of buying some of these new CD's.

Pros: Great value, cheap as heck with a purchase. Good articles and nice pictures to describe the products they review in general.

Cons: They rarely ever take a controversial stand. They never give full stars to great products or low ratings to poor products for fear of losing ads??? They could also do a better job of taking pictures of both the front and back of all products.

All in all, decent, not great.
