An all time classic,
By Frugalgene (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hear the Sound of My Feet Walking, Drown the Sound of My Voice Talking (Paperback)
There are few mementos that I've kept from the 60's. A copy of this book is one of them. It is a classic whose message is as appropriate today as it was back then. It's a shame most would not understand it. I just dug it out and read the last chapter, "100% American Dog in Magic Cookie Land." Still brings a smile after all these years. It is a comic book with some interesting wisdom, and philosophy, most of which is outside the box.

This review is from: Hear the Sound of My Feet Walking, Drown the Sound of My Voice Talking (Paperback)
Dan O'Neill is one of the great undiscovered artists of our times, a very deep thinker. His two prominent works, this, and Odd Bodkin's are two seminal 60's counter-culture types and present him as an esoteric mystic with a gifted hand. I read both volumes in my thirties under the duration and duress of a moderate illness. They provided me with great thought and a kind of companionship. Buy'em both before they're gone. I hope fervently that these two are re-printed, perhaps in a beautiful hardcover slipcased edition. Worth it's weight in a valuable mineral ore!
