ea. vol: photogs. Oryx Pr. Dec. 1985. pap. $18.50. LC 85-7222. YA These interviews with science fiction writers were originally broadcast on the nationally syndicated The Science Fiction Radio Show between 1980 and 1983. In the interviews , averaging about 20 pages each , writers discuss their background, inspirations and themes as well as their working habits. Also included is a black-and-white photograph of each person. The writers interviewed are some of the more popular and durable in the science fiction/fantasy field, including Stephen R. Donaldson, C. J. Cherryh, Hal Clement and Theodore Sturgeon (Volume 1) and Piers Anthony, Philip Jose Farmer, Marion Zimmer Bradley and Gene Wolfe (Volume 2). In addition there are interviews with artist Michael Whelen, critic Roger Ebert and writer/editor/publisher Donald A. Wollheim. These two volumes would be invaluable for science fiction courses and for fans who want to know more about their favorite writers. Betsy Shorb, PGCMLS, Md.
