Jess Harnell is an accomplished singer and voice actor, and his debut album surpasses all of his previous work. Fans and casual listeners alike will love this CD. It deals with issues such as love, relationships, family, and the American dream. Jess blends a variety of styles, including rock, jazz, and even country, so no matter what you're interest is, this album has something for you. Some songs (The Reason Why) are romantic, some (People Laugh) are sad, and others (The Sound of Your Voice) just plain rock. In my opinion, the worst song on this album is the bonus track (Walk in the Shadows), but I even listen to that one over and over, the album is that good. At first, I was surprised by the decidedly more serious tone of the album(as I imagine many of Jess's fans will be), but it has now become one of my most treasured possessions. Please, if you're a music fan or a Jess Harnell fan, get this CD as soon as you can.

I was a big fan of Jess Harnell because of his voice work, but since I got his CD it became one of my most proud possessions and he himself has become one of my favourite singers. He does a great job at singing, and I await for his second CD (if he ever makes one) to be released.

"The Sound of your Voice" is a great CD with a refreshing blend of musical styles- from melodic Rock to more heavy tracks, such as the title cut. I would recommend this CD to anyone who loves good music and/or are curious to hear Harnell's great voice in something different than a cartoon show!
