I have the Blu-ray version of The Pacific. The main feature chapters play and sound fine. When I try to play the special features I get picture, can see the historians lips moving but I get no sound what so ever. I have two different Blu-ray setups with different AV receivers and both have the same problem. I have never experienced this with any other Blu-rays special features. Has anyone else had this problem? If so what was your solution. Do I just have an unusually bad set?
has anybody who had this problem updated the firmware for their blu-ray player and get it to work yet? I'm guessing if there was a problem with the discs, the studio would have fixed it by now but I'd rather hold off buying if this isn't getting fixed.
R. Shaw, I had the same problem with my Blu Ray copy of The Pacific (playing on a Panasonic DMP-BD87), and the simple solution was to turn the "secondary audio" setting: ON. I otherwise had the SA in the OFF position, as it interferes with my receiver (Onkyo TX-SR706/7.1) properly decoding high-res audio formats (i.e., DTS-HD MA). After that, the audio on the "features" section of all Blu Ray discs worked just fine. However, you'll probably want to turn SA back OFF when you're watching the main "chapters" so your receiver can play the audio properly.
