First i'd like to say that I am somewhat of a budget audiophile. I have about a dozen headphones, none of which are priced over $60. Until i got these my recommended budget buy was the Koss KSC75 clip-ons. However, that's all changed. I'd also like to note that I am testing these on various Sandisk players and a laptop through a Fiio E5 headphone amp.

Pros: -Very balanced sound after a few hours of burn in
-Bass is plenty punchy on "clear bass" setting
-Very lightweight and comfortable; smaller than they look in photos
-Pretty solid construction, seems like the phones will hold up to some abuse (can't vouch for the bass switch though)
-Great variety of accessories included. Mine came with about 10 pairs of tips (including bi-flange and foamies), cable wrap, carrying case, over-the-ear cable guides, and a cord clip.
-The cable is rubbery and tangles far less than many others

Cons: -There is some cord contact noise, though not as much as my other iem's
-They are difficult to use while excercising without the (provided) cable guides
-None of the provided tips offer ideal noise isolation. Aftermarket foamies work best

Other Thoughts: -They don't have the high-end sparkle of certain higher-end headphones (e.g. Yuin pk3/ok3) (whether this is good or bad depends on you listening preferences)

Bottom Line: for people who are looking for budget IEM's, there is no better choice at anywhere near this price. I myself will be buying several more sets as gifts.

Though the treble is actually quite poor in these headphones. They extend well, but slump in lower treble regions, aren't the best quality, nor are they very pronounced. Mids are very very forward, sometimes too forward on some vocal tracks. Bass is very good, perfect for my liking, but i can definitely see them being lacking for some people who like hip pop or electronic music. I honestly wouldnt recommend these headphones for them because its mid centered nature and its too wide soundstage. But for all other forms of music these headphones are the best for the price way better than any of the cx series IEMs and the nuforce ne-6. The bass nob, when turned to deep bass, seems to deepen the bass, but also distort the mids.

I'm not really a hardcore audiophile but I've owned all different types and brands of headphones from $30 to around $300.

I stumbled upon the PL30s by accident. I had owned a pair of Klipsch Image S4 -II Black In-Ear Headphones and was pretty irked when the right channel cut out after three months of gentle use. To their credit, Klipsch offers a generous warranty, but I still decided to look for a cheap-but-decent pair of earbuds to tide me over till I got my S4s back. I figured I might as well give the PL30s a shot considering the good reviews and decent price (I got them for 22 euros). I was a little skeptical at first since there doesn't seem to be much reliable info about them anywhere, but I figured what the heck, it's only 22 euros.

I hardly ever review things online, but WOW SoundMAGIC really, really deserves credit. These headphones rock. In certain areas they actually outshine the S4s, and they're less than half the price. The mids have an all-around warm sound that might border on just slightly exaggerated to some ears, but I actually find the PL30s perfect for rock and pop, two genres where the S4s can sound a little bit clinical for all their accuracy. The PL30's treble drops off slightly in the way upper ranges but still sounds great, and the bass sounds perfectly balanced to my ear- not overemphasized but definitely present in the mix. I think the S4s do bass pretty well but after an A/B test, I think the PL30s really nail it, with a much punchier and more engaging bass thru the internal pre-amps in my iPod and Macbook. With an external pre-amp, the clean punchy bass of the S4 outshines the PL30's bass however.

Verified Purchase
When I first purchased and received these I put them in my ears and was disappointed. I noticed that there was hardly any bass and it sounded cheap. My problem was that I couldn't find out exactly how to put them in my ears. There was no manual or anything. I didn't know if red was left or right. I found someone on google stating that red was right so I tried that but black sounded better in my right and I somehow fit it better in my ear. I used the small rubber buds and inserted these things pretty far into my ear canal because I was searching for the right angle and best sound. One time I pulled out the phone and a medium foam bud was still deep inside my ear. I had to get some tweezers to get them out. I tried all the different buds and sizes except for the large. After a lot of trial and error I almost gave up and was about to rate these a 1 star. My last effort was to just use the medium sized rubber buds again and try to put them in the logical way again like I tried when I first got them. I put red on right and the dark blue on left. All of the sudden I heard a deep bass and GREAT quality! I was definitely relieved! The little bass knobs on the side of the phone were very hard for me to turn at first and I actually didn't know that they were for bass until I read comments on google from others. It didn't come with the cool circular hard case like I have seen others receive but instead it came with a small pleather bag. It also came with one pair of small, medium, large rubber and foam buds. An ear guide cable thingamajiggy that goes around the ear came with it too. I don't have any complaints cause I'm just happy the quality sounds great. Hopefully this review can possibly help others.
