This was a complete disapointment! The software that came with the Sound Tech Vocal Trainer, did not work at all, and when I called the company, they refered me to software maker. They must have been out of business because they would not respond to any calls. Calling the company back, I was told that they were probably out of business, but they had one disk left and would send it to me. That didn't work either. When I called back again, I was told that they would look into it, but never did. After three more calls, I gave up, and took my loss. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

1.0 out of 5 stars Software kills hardware review, March 16, 2010

Warning - buyer beware!
Unfortunately this product was a waste of money. It sits in a drawer unused. I attempted to install the software multiple times within different windows environments (without success). I tried to install the software under Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP and all attempts failed at the same installation point (could not recognize that the microphone was plugged in when instructed to plug it in as part of the installation). I called the hardware company and they said that they don't support the software and gave me the name and web URL of the software vendor. Unfortunately that was a dead end too. The software vendors web site is a static page that states it no longer supports the software and will be back up an running when they release their next version in 2011.
"November 1st, 2009 - All Carry-a-Tune and SINGINGCoach products are currently discontinued for purchasing and technical support from Electronic Learning Products at this time. "
So I can't comment on the hardware quality since I still haven't been able to use it. Who knows.
So in reality they are selling a new product package that is already end of life before you use it. What a sad waste of money and a disappointing product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheap but not forgotten,a good buy for someone like me, January 15, 2012

Of course, I can't knock the other reviews that disparage the product. My perspective is not that however. I'm fairly computer savvy (in a windows kind of way); and it did take me a couple of times to get it installed and configured (Windows XP, control panel stuff as well; `sounds and audio devices', 'audio sound recording device settings'; noting as well that I'll be trying Windows 7 next, and I sent the mike as well to a Mac user, so we'll see how that goes).

On that note, once I switched USB ports (installation midway) the `install' went through seamlessly. I wanted the digital mike just because; the software was a bonus. While quite cheesy, for me as a total non singer, I'm really enjoying the software -- my run so for - about 6 or 7 lessons into to it. Maybe, I'll be good enough to update this when (and if I complete the course).

In short, I believe $20 is a good buy for this (especially with the free shipping) and I like that I can use Mixcraft with it. (I use version 4LE, a windows kind of `Garage band' that came with some other hardware purchase). I'm also bummed, like the others that the company appears defunct. At least the makers of lightsnake are still rockin' (which I used for my Yamaha Silent Guitar input). That company can be found at http://www.soundtech.com. Also, I feel bad that for other reviewers, their experiences did not equal mine in the slightest.
