Turn your PC into a wireless music server or listen to your MP3 player out loud with the ACT-211 AudioCast transmitter. Designed to serve as a bridge between your preferred audio device and your home stereo system, the AudioCast incorporates 2.4 GHz Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) technology to ensure a clean, crisp sound. Setup is simple: Just plug the transmitter and ACR-212 receiver (sold separately) into nearby wall outlets, run a cable between the AudioCast transmitter and the headphone jack of your computer or MP3 player, and connect the receiver to your home stereo. Within seconds, you'll have complete audible access to all your recorded music files, with no long wires to unroll or programming to master. Even better, you can connect two receivers to each AudioCast transmitter, letting you create two distinct music zones in your home. And for people with particularly large homes, it's even possible to run a single audio signal through two AudioCast transmitters at the same time, in effect turning your home into a four-zone system.

The real star of the AudioCast system, however, is the wireless FHSS technology. For years, wireless solutions have been plagued with outside interference from other products using the crowded 2.4 GHz band. The Soundcast engineering team, by contrast, refined the AudioCast's wireless technology to the point where neither the microwave nor the cordless phone will affect the quality of the listening experience. No buzzes, no dropouts, and no distortion--just pure, clean sound.

Product Description

Soundcast ACT-211 AudioCast transmitter forms a wireless bridge between an audio source and an audio sound system when used with the AudioCast ACR-212 receiver (receiver sold separately). AudioCast provides the same functionality as iCast for non-iPod devices. With AudioCast, a 3.5mm mini-jack connects any product with a stereo signal output: including portable MP3 players, portable CD players, PCs or home electronics products such as a cassette deck or CD changer, to any audio reproduction system such as a home theatre system or a pair of amplified speakers. It is also possible to connect two AudioCast transmitters to the same audio resource. Each of those transmitters can operate two receivers, allowing the user to make a wireless four-zone audio system with each zone playing the same material. As with iCast, all the connecting cables required are supplied with the units.

I was looking for a solution to stream audio from my computer in one corner of the house to multiple locations elsewhere in the house. I tried several attempts using my 802.11g network, but it always ended in frustration - could NOT get streaming to work consistently if at all. Then I took a chance on these devices, and I am extremely pleased. Use the audio out from your PC, and have a powered receiver + speakers on the other end of the wireless link. They are ultra portable (not battery powered FYI), lightweight, and there's no configuration - the receiver and transmitter just find each other and start talking. It's great.
I haven't had any interference problems when using these. And the signal is definitely more robust than my Linksys 11g router provides.
I'm thinking about getting a third receiver, even though the instructions say you can only use two receivers per transmitter for some reason. If not, a y-cable and a second receiver, and I'm in business.
