The Soundcast OutCast Junior: The Little Brother with a Big Voice

The OutCast Junior is the weather-resistant, wireless speaker letting you enjoy rich multi-directional stereo sound throughout your house, your yard, your tailgate and even your boat. With a broadcast range of up to 350 feet, this powerfull wireless speaker receives transmissions through walls, floors and ceiling without the hassle of tangled wires. The OutCast Junior can receive and control wireless transmissions from your iPod, computer, MP3 player and even your TV!

Compared to its bigger brother, the Outcast Junior is only 20" tall and 16-1/2 pounds. But that's just appearances! There are two major functional differences as well: a new 12-volt adapter for charging the battery from your car and a multi-channel function that allows you to designate it as a right or leff channel speaker (meaning that with two Juniors, you can achieve true stereo sound). With a 12-volt adapter, you can easily pack your OutCast Junior everywhere you go with almost no restrictions—camping, tailgating, softball tournaments, etc. Who needs an outlet when you can charge the Junior's battery pack with your car?

With onboard controls, you can adjust volume, track up/down, and pause/play audio for remote operation of your iPod or computer. Finally, you have the freedom to blast your music wherever you want without the trouble of burning CDs from your computer or worrying about your iPod getting lost, wet or dropped as people fumble with the buttons.

can go anywhere you go and still impress, view larger

Amazing Sound Combined with Rugged Construction and Ease of Use

The OutCast Junior sounds like no other wireless speaker in the industry. With an 6-1/2" downward firing woofer and four 3" high frequency drivers in an omni-directional array, the Junior projects bass you can feel and high range notes with clarity normally heard only on high-end stereo equipment. Never again will you suffer through crackles, pops and buzzes of inferior wireless gear. Be confident that the 60-watt multi-channel amplifer of a single OutCast Junior speaker is more than enough to power your top tunes in the middle of a big family reunion backyard BBQ.

The brilliance of the Soundcast OutCast lies as much in its simplicity as its phenomenal sound. The most challenging part of the OutCast setup? Removing it from the box! Charging the NiMh battery pack is the first step of truly wireless audio, but you can also use AC power if you're looking for immediate audio playback. The sturdy design and low center of gravity of the OutCast Junior makes it more than tough enough to stand up to errant soccer balls or curious pets.

This amazing wireless loudspeaker is the perfect choice for today’s on-the-go lifestyle. Ultimately, the OutCast Junior is a great sounding, cost-effective alternative wherever hard-mounted outdoor speaker systems are not practical or such systems would be otherwise too expensive and difficult to justify.

The SoundCast System relies on transmitters and receivers, view larger

How does the OutCast Junior Work with the Rest of the SoundCast System?

The SoundCast System is a simple coordination of transmitters and receivers, with the Junior being one of multiple receiver options within the SoundCast System. Other receivers include the original Outcast, the SubCast, the iCast Receiver and the SpeakerCast. Transmitters include the iCast transmitter for iPod/iPhone transmission and the Universal Audio Transmitter (UAT) for computer and other MP3 audio transmission. Read more about these other transmitters and receivers below.

SoundCast uses frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) technology in which the transmitter constantly and automatically searches for open channels in the 2.4GHz band, jumping to them to avoid interference with other products such as cordless telephones, radio controlled toys, cell phones, microwaves, remotes and wireless routers.

  • What the Critics are Saying about SoundCast...

  • "As both a reviewer and an installer, I find it so refreshing to get a product that works exactly as promised. The OutCast system did everything it was supposed to do. The wireless range and battery life are outstanding. If you’re looking for a simple way to add music to an outdoor living space...the OutCast won’t leave you stranded." - John Sciacca, Sound & Vision Magazine
  • "The Soundcast iCast is the first [iPod dock] I've seen that transmits audio wirelessly to a receiver that you can connect to your home stereo... The special thing about the iCast, though, is that it does not bow down to interference from anything. Thanks to an automatic frequency-hopping feature, the sound quality is crystal-clear. That's a feature I wish all wireless products had." - Mike Kobrin, Editor PC Magazine
  • "The Soundcast OutCast speaker system is extremely innovative, featuring a weatherproof and completely wireless design that's a snap to set up; wired and wireless audio quality is impressive. The Soundcast OutCast speaker system is an excellent choice for those who want all the benefits of great-sounding, outdoor wireless audio without the hassles of tricky setup and weather-damaged equipment." - Jasmine France, Editor CNET
  • "Whenever I review outdoor or wireless speakers I generally have low expectations. This was completely unnecessary with the Soundcast OutCast Wireless speaker system. The audio fidelity was very good...the iCast wireless transmitter was rock solid and had a very good range. Aesthetics aside, the OutCast is a beauty of a product. The ease of use and portability is just amazing. For those that want music in different rooms or outside (or both), this is the solution for you." - Tom Andry Audioholics Magazine

This speaker kicks ass, I own two of them. The only thing is I wish it had a soft case you could put it in because the outside gets scuffed and smudged extremely easily and you can't get the marks off. These things can take a pretty good beating. Battery life is great to and the options for wireless/wired ipod and battery/acdc adapter use is just awesome. Totally loud and great bass and knocks the socks off of any competitive product. Actually, I take that back, this product doesn't HAVE a competitive product because nothing comes close to being as versatile and great-sounding.

I recently bought the Outcast Junior and am very happy with the unit. After waiting for the battery to charge up, I turned it on and put my IPhone into a ICT111 wireless transmitter and WOW! The sound was very good and filled the large room. And very easy to set up, no complicated pairing or programming.

When I use it outside, I can not really crank it up because it is too loud for my neighborhood. Even when I crank it, the sound remains good with little distortion. My one complaint is that the transmitter (sold seperatly) does not have a battery feature making it's use at the beach limited. You can still plug in your IPod directly, but lose some features on the Outcast. All in all, a very solid unit with impressively loud sound for such a small unit.

My husband bought me the Outcast Jr. for my birthday, and I have been using it for a couple of months now. We DID NOT purchase a transmitter. Instead, I simply plug in either my phone or iPod via the auxiliary-in jack, and it works FABULOUSLY!! Our intent was to purchase a transmitter at a later time, but I'm not sure I care if I ever get one. Without a transmitter, I am unable to use the remote control to skip songs or control the volume, but that's not a big deal to me. The battery life is UNBELIEVABLE, and the sound quality is impressive. I can't think of anything negative to say about the unit. It is very pricey, but I feel it is money well spent. I am a 100% satisfied customer.

I have been eying one of these for over 2 years now after hearing its big brother, the Outcast, at a friends house and blew me away how clear and powerful this thing sounded.

Amazon had this used, but sold by Amazon for $499. Bought it and looks and sounds just as new. I dont think its really worth it to spend twice the amount on the regular Outcast. unless you are throwing rave parties at full blast. This thing is LOUD!!!

I only wished it had integrated bluetooth, instead of that BlueCast bluetooth adapted they have. It was totally useless for me. Bought another bluetooth adapted for $20 here on Amazon and works great and cost 3 times less than their version.
