Editorial Reviews

Review

I am writing this letter to inform you of a new product "Sounds of American Speech", a self-practice program that can be utilized for genalization supportive practice for clients with dyspraxia, dysarthria and dysphonia. I have been using this product with my patients for approximately one year with good results. The material is composed of single phoneme, word, phrase and sentence drills for all consonants and consonant clusters in various positions within the word and utterance. The semantic content is delightful, making practice intellectually engaging. I have use these materials with individuals ages ten to eighty plus years. Types of medical diagnosis have consited of various neurological insult, including cortical and subcortical stroke, brain injury (closed open or penetrating trauma, anoxia/hypoxia, space occupying lesions , disease, and arterial venous malformations), as well as individuals with vocal/resonance dysfunction. This material is meant as an adjunct to skilled clincal services and expedites recovery by providing a specific practice format. It is not meant to replace skilled Speech- Language Pathology services. -- Director of Speech Pathology, Marium Al-Oboudi, M.A.CCC, SLP7458, San Diego Rehabilitation Institute
