Having recently been scuba diving with Humpback whales, this CD was absolutely incredible. Once you have heard whale song in person, you will be hooked and this CD does it! Having a variety helps too. The whale song near the surface was very reminiscent of our diving. Track two with the ghostly echoes from deep within underwater canyons is amazing. I highly recommend this collection.

I searched and searched for a cd that was as close to being underwater with the whales as closely as possible and this is it.

All those other cd's didn't make sense to me. Why would I hear the whales and the surf / shore at the same time. The feeling of being under the surf as if diving naturally slows down my breathing. As for other cd's with bells, whistles and synthesizers they make even less sense.

You can almost feel the pressure of the water on you which is great unless you're claustrophobic. Well done.

no music !! so thats a plus at least, however this cd falls down on several points, 1, it is spliced all over the place with water sounds to disguise one recording session joining the next, 2 the humpback sounds are very similar all the way through occupying the middle frequency with not much variation. There a couple of short sections late on track one and early track two where the whales get some good echo but they are short lived.
Check out humpbacks on the holborne label (if you can get one ) and the other 4 or 5 stars i have given on amazon uk for the real deals which easily put this cd into a distant second rate.

I can listen to this for hours - and I do. It is really nice to listen to when I'm using the computer...

This CD has two cuts- one from the surface and one deep. The surface cut is fine, and you get a good sense for the repeating nature of the song. But the second cut is outstanding because of the echoes! Very trippy with headphones.
