5.0 out of 5 stars Back To Their Roots May 9, 2012
By Smitty
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
SoCalDreamin said it very well. "They've got their groove back." "Man of the World" was probably not their best album and this one gets them back to their roots of "Fly Between Falls" and "Roses and Clover". Every song is listenable and likeable on this album. Very refreshing considering I will be seeing them live in less than a week. Thanks ALO, confidence has been restored that you continue to move in the right direction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sounds Like Danceing July 10, 2012
Format:Audio CD
I love hearing groups evolve. This album hearkens back to the smooth open sound of Roses and Clover, but with deeper more tightly woven layers of complexity than ever before. Basically listening to this album = dancing. And that is a very good thing.

This album is on par with Fly Between Falls. You will smile, your head will bob, and your stress level will plummet. Yes, it's that good. What are you waiting for, buy it already!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album! May 14, 2012
Format:Audio CD
Celebrating 20-years of musical storytelling, ALO is one of the great jam bands--impressionistic yet intelligently creative; groovy and danceable; humorous; able to stand alongside the likes of Phish and the Grateful Dead.

IMHO, "Sounds Like This" is certainly their best album yet, opening with what I perceive a tribute: Dead Still Dance. Upon hearing it I immediately wanted to drop my iPad, raise my arms and dance.

Zach is one of the great storytellers; Cowboys and Chorus Girls is such a tale and begins with a long introduction like a Sergio Leone movie or Steven King's "Gunslinger." The feeling of the old west is there, created by Lebo's reverberating A and E-strings, and I felt myself ambling, with an empty canteen, horseback along a southwestern desert valley surrounded by clear skies, purple sage and rattlesnakes.

Storms and Hurricanes, Reviews (from here to Zed), and Blow out the Walls are my other favorites. Each features the classical pop training of these fine musicians, Zach, Lebo, Steve and Brogan. Together they have produced this album for us jammed with soul and aliveness, enough to blow out the walls!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the best May 9, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
They keep getting better. Just when you think they have done it all - you get a topper. An immensely rewarding recording. All knell down to the keyboard wizard Zach, all applaud the drum engine that could Dave, guitar player with an electrified soul Danny, and the hardest working bass player in show business Steve. Thanks for your gift of music. The dead still dance in my dreams tonight! Just an awesome CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Their Best Effort Yet May 8, 2012
Format:Audio CD
Fantastic album - after the departure that was "Man of the World" this feels much more like the ALO I've seen live. They've got their groove back :) Tight songs, jams, fantastic guitar playing as always by Lebo - this will be in my rotation all summer. After a couple of complete listens, most songs just give you that little spring in your step and make you want to dance. That's what ALO is, all genre's mashed together into songs that make you move. Great work guys, keep it up!
