This is one of the best of the old time halloween lp's. I remember listening to this one as a young kid and it scared me silly. I still really enjoy listening to this today also. This lp brings back alot of great memories of halloweens past. Some of the old recordings from the 70's were just terrific stuff, and this one here was one of the best.

Memorable Halloween sound FX record from the mid-70's.,

If you liked Disney's "Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House," this mental assault from Pickwick Records might appeal to you. First of all, for all those monster fans in the 70's, this had a very satisfyingly gruesome cover illustration featuring a multitude of monsters--a representation, more or less, of every basic kind of monster a kid might know about--all raging about a creepy old castle at night (during a thunderstorm, of course!). The cover illo alone was enough to keep you busy for a while, just taking note of the various ghouls and soaking up the atmosphere.
Getting into the recording itself now, this was nice too, with some genuinely frightening, unsettling stuff, including an insane "Phantom Piano" and some memorable ghost howls and cries. Like the Disney album, the best moments are very chaotic and loud--and unlike many later Halloween albums, which had a tendency to be watered-down and "cute," this was actually scary, and not necessarily the sort of thing you'd want to listen to in the dark or near bedtime. Very nice, and a good thing to have in your spooky sound effects library, certainly.
