4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Groove Throughout
Cal Tjader sheds his usual latin influences for this treatment of popular Bacharach tunes recorded in that infamous summer of 1968, and avoids schlockdom with good phrasing and tight arrangements. These are not necessarily "jazz" performances although there are flashes of tasteful improvisation and this is a great representation of Bacharach's 1960's music...

3.0 out of 5 stars Only for the Tjader tjaded!
Thius is not what we all fell in love with Tjader for..us Tjaded fans of Cal Tjader. But there was a short period in which Gary McFarland, Gabor Szabo and CT went into the record business..yes it bombed big time. but there was a gem or two that this album represents that you'll never get anywhere else and when it's gone, I believe it will fade away like so many of the...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great collection of classic tunes!, March 14, 1999

I really enjoyed this C.D. This brought back great memories of the 60's and early 70's. If you like classic songs with Cal's own flair this is the C.D. for you. Enjoy!

Zso save a piece of CT history for your living will, but enjoy the music, do check our the Moneypenny piece..it's something else!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Burt! What else is there?!!, December 1, 2011

How can you go wrong with the music of Burt Bacharach played by vibes master Cal Tjader? You can't go wrong is the answer!
Very jazzy...Lounge....laid back vibe....awesome interpretation of the Master's tunes done in a nice jazz/pop combo form.
I feel that the true beauty of the melodies really shine in this setting...no vocals, no heavy orchestrations (which I love)just great chord changes and wonderful tunes galore...which is the essence of Bacharach.
Cal Tjader is fantastic on vibes...and supported by great musicians...this is a real classic 60's tribute to a giant of the 60's genre. Pour yourself a dry martini or mai tai...relax and enjoy the mellow ride, man.
