A must for new parents!, February 1, 2010
This review is from: Sounds for Silence (Baby Settling Program for Sleeping, Sounds for Silence) (Hardcover)
Our newborn is good natured and peaceful. But there are times when he will cry and seem inconsolable. The cd in this program settles him almost every time. The sounds mimic those in the womb and really cam our baby, sometimes instantly. There are a variety of sounds, including some lullabies and soft music. The book is a good resource too for info on soothing a crying baby. A great item for new parents who are still figuring their little one out!

A must if you run out of options for resettling your little one., November 19, 2010
This review is from: Sounds for Silence (Baby Settling Program for Sleeping, Sounds for Silence) (Hardcover)
My little daughter was going through 45min naps during the day. She always put herself to sleep, but somehow found it difficult to re-settle when moving from one sleep cycle to another. She would scream in frustration, furiously rubbing her eyes, frantic to go back to sleep.
I tried everything; from shushing to patting, stroking her forehead, leaving her cry it out and checking on her, picking her up - giving her some play time and then trying again - nothing worked. She obviously wanted to sleep for longer, not only for 30 - 45min and I was getting desperate.
A child nurse introduced me to this CD. I have seen it before, but because of the mixed reviews I didn't buy it. She explained how to use the CD (the instructions are also in the book) and I gave it a try.
I entered my daughter's room 1/2 hour after she fell asleep, waiting for the dreadful wake up. 15min later it came like an alarm clock. Wee one woke up and started her usual screaming session, but I was ready (hidden behind the cot with CD remote in my hand observing her): I turned player on full blast, track number 1 and what do you know? Within FEW SECONDS she stopped screaming as the sound surprised her. After few sobs, she turned her head from side to side and went back to sleep. I left the room few minutes after without her noticing me.
This CD has saved my sanity. There are days when the CD doesn't work, but on those days the 45min nap is visibly enough and my wee one is happy to get up without screaming and get on with the day. 2 months down the track and we hardly use the CD. She learned how to re-settle and sleeps 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hour naps. We might occasionally put the CD on when she has trouble falling asleep (hey, we all have those days), but only on low volume to give her something to concentrate on. Works like magic.

Scientifically proven to work wonders :-), October 8, 2010
This review is from: Sounds for Silence (Baby Settling Program for Sleeping, Sounds for Silence) (Hardcover)
This program works on the same theory as the Happiest Baby on the Block. But after shushhhhhhing yourself into hypoxia, you can just plug in this CD and it will take over for you. The track names are kind of nonsensical, but basically 1-6 sound like womb sounds, shushing, static, a vacuum cleaner, etc. I set my CD player to repeat only tracks 1-6 because I found tracks 7-12 (which contain piano music) to be sharp and disruptive to the babies' sleep. When you have an inconsolable baby, turn up the volume and let track 1 blast away. It sounds just like it does inside mom's belly and within a minute or two your babies start to calm down. We also use it to help them sleep when the Fisher Price Rainforest Lullabies CD isn't sufficient. This CD is the "big gun" and it really works wonders.
