This is an erie recording of what you might hear if your way out at the sea at night.This recording is haunting but soothing.The humpback whales have a moaning sound that can be heard over the ocean.Imagine laying on the beach at night listening to the waves then you hear the sound of these whales.This is very entertaining to listen to and is just nature sounds no music.

Exactly what I was looking for. One hour of pure whale and sea sounds without any annoying ambiental music. I recommend this disc to anyone who likes to relax listening nature sounds.

What I want when I buy a CD of whale song is simply that: whale song. I don't want other music (of which this does happen to be devoid), but I also don't want surf sounds or other above water animals (or other below water animals for that matter). I have tried many times to enjoy this disc but the surf sounds (which begin even before the first hoot from a whale) ruin it. I usually don't last more than a few seconds (though I have forced myself to listen all the way through a few times). Save yourself. Look for a recording that has ONLY whale sounds.

Nice gentle sounds to help you relax, be background while studying or to fall asleep.

This cd was a very good price and I feel now that I got what I paid for (2.98) and regret not having paid more for a better recording. I can hear mistakes in the repetition of the whale sounds and the whale sounds do not sound natural in rhythm. They seem to continue too frequently within a repeated loop. Also, there are some parts where a sound was started and then quickly stopped, then started again. With earphones on I am sensitive to these kinds of sounds and hear the mistakes. In addition, the surf is quite loud. That is fine, except that my mind is on the surf at that moment and then I hear deep water sounds of whales which take me to the deep sea. Am I on the beach or listening to whales in the sea? For listeners who are especially critical, and want to hear convincingly natural sounds don't bother buying this cd. For those who are not particular and just want to hear general "sea sounds" it might be ok for a good deal.

I purchased this cd with the impression that I could use it to help me with falling asleep. However I wasn't happy with the disc upon using it. It is the sounds of a whale, but it is on a roll, seemingly over and over again, the same sounds. I didn't feel it helped me at all!

This CD had only one song. It has some nice whale noises and beach sounds but is fuzzy. The volume has to be turned way up in order to hear anything.

So very soothing this is. It may seem erie to some, but soothing to a storm lover and winter person. I'm born in oregon so this is also a big time soother for memories. enjoy...its a treat.

Having recently bought a Thunderstorm soundtrack and also being fascinated by whale song I thought I would try to find a decent recording and give one a try at the same time.

`Sounds and Songs of the Humpback' is an hour long track that is exactly what it's title suggest. This has quiet wave and some other sea sounds with Humpback Whale song as the main focus. The recording is very clear and you can hear the whale song beautifully.

I enjoyed playing this the first time round, but I will admit I personally find the thunderstorm CD I bought at the same time more relaxing. This may just be personal preference though.

This is a perfectly decent humpback recording and if you are after trying a CD of this type then this is well worth considering. The songs are haunting and atmospheric and make for peaceful background sound.

This cd is the gentlest, smoothest, most soothing piece of natural orchestral compositions that have ever graced my ears in my life. I play this for my various children and they all agree: humpback whales have got it. Humpbacks clearly show their superiority to the orcas, whose cd fell quite short in their attempt to outsell these gems. Although they show some similarities, the humpbacks show a peculiar sensitivity to the ears of foreign species. My children, and may I say, myself included, appreciate that more than anything. Orcas need to learn this lesson. This cd is great!
