This book is about Phonics. Although the first chapter is not written for children, it is very helpful in explaining how to de-code the mystery words. This book should be used by person's who may be assisting anyone with reading instruction. The book includes work pages (with answers given in the back of the book) and easy to understand text. This book is an excellent resource for teachers and also for parents who may be supplimenting the school's reading program. The book would be invaluable for parents who home-school. If you have ever wondered why the word "happening" is spelled using just one "n" and the word "beginning" is spelled using two "n"'s, this book will answer that question and many more!

This is a wonderful book that I have used over and over again for my own reference as well as with adult students -both ESL and literacy students. It explains the complex system of English phonics in simple, easy to understand language, but is by no means lightweight. There is a lot of information packed into a few pages. I love the visual way the vowels are organized. It makes them so easy for visual learners to grasp. It is an invaluable resource for all kinds of teachers and learners.
