About the Author

Kay Kaufman Shelemay (Ph.D., University of Michigan) is Professor of Music at Harvard University. She is a past president of the Society for Ethnomusicology and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She traveled and conducted research in Ethiopia and Israel during graduate school and wrote her dissertation on the liturgical music of the Beta Israel (Ethiopian Jews). A monograph of her work, Music, Ritual and Falasha History, earned her the 1986 ASCAP-Deems Taylor Award and the 1988 Prize of the International Musicological Society.

I recieved this promptly and in good condition, with the CDs included. The book does a good job of engaging musicology from a multicultural perspective, but at times is quite juvenile in its approach.

I purchased a new book because I need the CDs. This product posted as 3 CDs included, but I received only the book, which doesn't do me any good without the CDs.
I am very mad because now I am having a quiz and I am doomed!
Wasting time, to wait for the order to arrive.
Wasting time to look for a new order. Now, I can't really trust the next one will come with CDs or just another scam.

this textbook didn't come with the CD's -- which are frequently referred to throughout the book, and are essential to the course.
