3.0 out of 5 stars Slooow Delivery
Took a long time for delivery . When they say 9 - 15 days, they mean it. It was two full weeks to get a simple DVD. Everything else was fine.

America's performance on the acclaimed PBS concert series Soundstage features all their greatest hits along with riveting versions of 'California Dreaming' and 'Nowhere Man' - plus an interview with founding members Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell.

Hi ~ I too have been waiting Moonsages for this release to come to be. What a magical event this was, it was a whirlwind dream come true time for me getting to be there at the Soundstage Studio. Picture this, a big stage with a backdrop of screens all showing America's history of album covers. The sound, lighting and acoustics were all top notch. Add America coming on stage and there was a Right Back at You Magic all around for this taping. America performed their hearts out, and adding to this treat was Henry Diltz, long time friend of America joining them on Don't Cross the River and HWNN, playing his banjo. Christopher Cross also joined America to sing and play on Lonely People & HWNN.I too am hoping that this dvd will be of the full playlist of songs done that night. We were treated to the known America gems, and we also were treated to such hidden gems, as Survival, Till The Sun Comes Up, Head and Heart, Everyone I Meet is From California, and a pinch me this is for real moment when Gerry sang All My Life. If you have never been to an America show, this dvd is a must have for you, I guarantee after watching it you will want to find the next scheduled America live show in your area. Thank You to all that are involved in bringing about the release of this dvd. I am also looking forward to the interviews from this evening. Take care and Ride On America! Nancyh :)

Been waiting for this show to come out now a couple of years. Hope I'm not bummed with just a partial show like the one aired on PBS. I was there that night and these guys were fabulous all night, not just on the "hits". Now let's work on getting these guys in the Rock Hall Of Fame like they so rightly deserve!!!!!!DanC

5.0 out of 5 stars probably the best of all the AMERICA dvds.....probably, September 2, 2008
This review is from: Soundstage: America Live In Chicago (DVD)
Well...fans of AMERICA ...can certainly pick and choose among about a half dozen DVDs now on the market. As a fan with a reasonable budget and the price of them all reasonable I have them all...and this new one from Sound Stage is certainly a gem...maybe THE gem. Sound Stage have first rate production values...from sound to video and those have both been hit or miss on past AMERICA dvds. The show in Australia seems a bit longer (24 songs)and unlike this set list does include EVERYONE I MEET IS FROM CALIFORNIA which I gather from another reviewer at the show was performed but isn't on this DVD... and with more goodies at 156 total minutes.. but this one also features a long interview with Gerry and a shorter one with Dewey as fun bonuses.

The set list is uniformly strong with a few surprises and I actually prefer it to the longer set from Australia which features several songs I'm not familiar with nor a fan of...so in this case less is more for me anyway.

bottom line..great first DVD if you don't have any...and great additional one if you do! The bonus DVD Target had from the XM sessions if you bought their most recent CD at that chain is also stunning...worth searching out!

enjoy!

This is a great performance by America and a nice mix of their content. I have several of their DVD's and like this the best. Audio is great. Video is mixed. Close-ups are clear, but some distance camera work is grainy. The interviews at the end are cool...esp the one with Steve Dahl (Chicago DJ) where Gerry plays Sister Golden Hair in the studio with Steve.

Audio was very good. Quality of the live performance, including songs sounding very true to the original with a bit of live flare and runs, was outstanding. Video was also very good. A definite buy!

I have really liked America's music since I was stationed with the US Air Force in England during the 70's and 80's. They gave me a wistful longing for "Home" in the USA. Their harmony is outstanding and always has been so. This is one fine DVD of America. The video is outstanding and the sound is spectacular. America only gets better with time and their voices are still perfect pitch. This is the best money I have ever spent for a DVD of a musical group. Highly recommended to all who love REAL music (definitely heads and shoulders above the other so-called "music" offered these days).

Fabulous show.Saw the same show in Charleston, SC earlier in the year. I only wish they had included the two new songs they played in Charleston(Chasing the Rainbow and Indian Summer.) If you have not bought the new CD, Here & Now, do so. It has them live in 2007 and 12 great new songs. Teddy
