They explain why they cook things a certain way and you know it will be tasty, because they have tried the dish 50 ways before sharing their "best methods".

I like the simplified receipes and cooking tips that produce good food. The explanation of the science behind certain processes or the illustrations of where certain cuts of meat come from add a kind of "Alton Brown" to the program. The product evaluations are interesting. I can do without the quirky costumes though!

I started watching this to figure out what I was doing wrong with pork chops. I was cooking them too long and using stuff that dries them out.I learned all kinds of tips to make my food better from this shows no - nonsense advice. Cook the pumpkin and let it cool before baking it into a bread or pie to get rid of the tinny taste. The right steps to keep a turkey breast nice and juicy on inside and crispy skin on the outside. when making a cheesecake, measure the gelatin so your dessert is not too jiggly or soggy. I love they show you what cuts of meat to buy and what kind of breads to buy and how it should look. Also I wish they would show what to do if you don't have a bunch of kitchen gadgets and you can't buy them. I do think they use too many ingredients sometimes and some people might find chris annoying. My mother and other people find him smug and prickly. Maybe he is in real life, I don't know. All I know is he and the ladies show me how to make pies that glisten on the outside like the ones at nice restaurants. Just don't buy it off their site, their customer service people are really disorganized. Watch on pbs or the library or buy off here.

OK. So there is Food Network and there is the Cooking Channel. And then there are folks who really know what they are doing. I have learned so much from these folks and I'm a much better cook because of it. Of course there are some things that honestly are not worth the effort (they make EVERYTHING; very little processed stuff), but results are gooooood.

While it isn't my favorite season, I'm still happy to have it on Amazon. I'm looking forward to next season though! I think my favorite episode was where they talked about how to cook eggs. I have found that this method is superior to the dried out eggs I have cooked in the past. I suppose you don't know what you don't know.

The episodes are informative as always . However, the quality of some of the videos is very grainy and poor even though the HD version is supposedly available.
