5.0 out of 5 stars Soup for President was really good!
This book was about a class that had two groups. The girls'group were the Amazons and the boy's group were the Apes in a one-room school. Norma Jean and Soup are running for school president. Rob doesn't know who to vote for. The book was interesting because Rob and Soup have a lot of adventures. I really liked it.

If you like books that make you laugh then you'll like this book! It's not really supposed to make you laugh, but it does{hehe}. This story is about a boy who has to vote in an election but he doesn't know if he should vote for his best friend or his true love{Oh! How rmantic!} for class president. This story makes me laugh because you don't expect the things that...

4.0 out of 5 stars Soup books are overlooked wholesome reading, June 17, 2010

This review is from: Soup for President (Paperback)
I started out by reading "Soup for President" to my 8-year old son. He loved it and physically broke out laughing a number of times. I didn't get to finish the story myself because he took the book from me and read the rest on his own after school.

I remember reading "Soup" and "Soup and Me" when I was a kid. So now my son and I are reading as many of them as we can. We are currently reading "Soup Ahoy".

4.0 out of 5 stars You Must Read This Book, April 4, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Soup for President (Hardcover)
"Soup For President" by Robert Newton Peck, is a great novel! Soup(one of the main characters) is a courageous kid who wants everyone to know him. He is doing everything he can to win the school election. Rob is Soup's best friend. He is handing out flyers for Soup, so that way he isn't doing anything to get in trouble. Soup now wants to paint his name on a barn wall to promote his campaign, as but Rob is against the whole idea. This may be like you and your best friend. One of you is strong-willed and courageous(Soup) and the other friend is weak-willed and a very big coward. This seems true of most friends.

In this book, most poeple dislike Janice Riker. She is mean to everyone and gives them no sympathy. Janice will tie kids to a tree, tackle them hard in football, always yells, and never gives up until she wins. This is one tough girl you would just want to stay away from!!!

Some of the parts that make me laugh are about him{Rob-main character}and his "love" because they're trying to act like they're teenagers in love{hehehaha}. If it makes me laugh then it'll at least make you smile{hehehaha}.
