I have made many soups from this book, and they've all been given rave reviews. At least half a dozen of these recipes are consistently on the menu. My husband would rather eat the Mushroom soup from this book than just about anything! Every recipe has beautiful step-by-step photos and clear instructions. For the price, you cannot do better. This is an awesome book!

I just made the beef chili on p. 165, it said add 2 1/2 cups of flour. Didn't it mean 2 1/2 Tablespoons? I messed up my whole pot of chili by adding this much flour. Maybe I could throw it in the oven and bake it as a bread?
Anyone else notice this? I think typos are annoying, but especially so when they are in a cookbook.
I love her cookbooks though, and have made many wonderful recipes over the years. That is why I gave the book 4 stars. If not for the ingredient error I would have given it 5 stars.

I love this cookbook. Every recipe has detailed instructions, hints, and great pictures. I have tried so many soups and have only been disappointed once; I think it was the out-of-season tomatoes. My FAVORITE soup is the Pasta and Chick-Pea Soup which is very Provencal in flavor. OUTSTANDING.

I bought this book in a bargain bin on a whim, because the photos were attractive. What a treasure! I've tried 4 recipes so far, and all were delicious. Loved the Cream of Red Pepper Soup, and I've made the Curried Salmon Soup several times. A lot of cream, though. I tried substituting evaporated milk for cream, and got a pretty good result. I've also made it with creamed coconut, as recommended, and with coconut milk when the former is not available. It's excellent both ways.

The Yellow Broth is tasty and nutritious, whether made with quick and steel-cut oats. Be sure to use fresh and not canned spinach. My new favorite is Mulligatawny Soup.

The author has a good sense of what makes a dish rich and tasty. Some of the recipes require long cooking times and careful attention, but it seems to bring out deep layers of flavor from what are often simple ingredients.

Beautiful photos and easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions. This should be a soup classic.
