I absolutely love this book. My picky teenager daughter loves the Hamburger Soup and Chicken Calico Soup. My fussy brother-in-law loves the Navy Bean and Ham Soup and Cream of Mushroom Soup. Every recipe I have tried has been a winner. I have given the book as gifts to ten of my girlfriends and when they ask for a recipe, I tell them - It's in the BOOK!

This is the best soup book out there! I am a novice in the kitchen, but like to make sophisticated dishes. This book makes you look like a pro! Every recipe is a "Do again." This book will be one of my top, most referenced books in my kitchen! Best of all, each recipe is so easy to prepare!

We bought this book on a whim a few years back and have enjoyed it ever since. I've never had a soup fail from this cookbook. You have to try the chicken and dumplings--the BEST!

A soup for everyone...,

If you don't make soup because you think you need a lot of time, or you have to cook for someone who doesn't eat vegetables, try this book. It has it all. Little time? Try the Swiss Potato, done in 15 minutes. Need to feed someone who doesn't like vegetables? Try the Mexican Cheese. Got stuck with bringing a pot for church supper? Try the Itailian Sausage with Tortellini. Don't like to stand over the stove? Try Navy Bean with Ham. It uses the crock pot. In the mood for Mexican? Try Tortilla. All you have in the freezer is a package of frozen peas? Try Pea Soup. Every recipe I try, my family likes! I just go down the index and find an ingredient they already like, the rest is a sauce pan away.

Excellent book for the new beginner, the seasoned chef, or anyone who likes good soup without complicated ingredients or instructions. I have used it for gifts and am working my way through every soup in the book.. in the winter months especially, we have soup at least once a week!! This one's a winner and I'm considering the companion muffin book as well.

As I write this, there is a pot of Hamburger Soup and a pot of Broccoli Cheddar Cheese Soup simmering on the stove. Literally, the most difficult step in making the Hamburger Soup was browning the meat. I usually do most of my cooking on weekends so that I don't have to come home from work and start cooking a dinner meal. But these recipes are so easy and quick that you can easily put them together in minutes... I also appreciate that the recipes reflect the trend to use ingredients containing low or no-fat. I used skim milk in making the Broccoli Cheddar Cheese soup with the same amount of flour to make a roux, and it turned out beautifully. This is a book that belongs on a coffee table as the illustrations, similar to those found in a children's book, are striking.Soup is a great comfort food and this book won't disappoint. This will make a great gift for novice or experienced cooks.
