Throughout her developmental years, Deborah dealt with learning difficulties with auditory processing. She attended a special preschool program and a private school for so-called emotionally disturbed children. She has made extraordinary breakthroughs in learning and communication. To seek solace from her struggles dealing with autism, low self-esteem, and societal prejudice, she developed a talent in art. After receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Maryland, she overcame many challenges adjusting to adulthood. Happily married for 15 years and a cat caretaker, she has been developing better life style habits, including diet, exercise, and meditation to reduce stress and increase her sense of well-being. She has been serving on boards for the disability and autism community.
