The very basics,
By Moongirl2001 "moongirl2001" (Toronto, Ontario Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Source: Journey Through the Unexplained (Paperback)
A really truly boring book. This book would be interesting to those who know nothing about UFO's, the occult or any paranormal subject. It is a collection of different stories ranging from Roswell to crop circles but it is all very basic. For anyone who has already read anything on any esoteric subject, this book will be very boring. It would make a good gift for someone who finds the paranormal interesting but knows nothing about anything paranormal.

A surprizing new hypothesis from two leaders in their field-,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Source (Hardcover)
I've been an Art Bell listener for over a year and despite the criticism he receives from the media and general populace, I have to say that he is the most (and perhaps only) honest man in the media -- One who does not let his mind be shaped by the restricted views of the masses. He provides for us an open forum through which we can present our experiences without having to worry about being shunned and degraded. He feeds us the news that secretly shapes (and will continue to shape) our lives while the rest of the media dwells for many months on stories about the personal lives of politicians and celebrities; information best portrayed in soap-operas and which has no hope of advancing humanity. With the help of Brad Steiger (author of more than 60 books discussing related issues), Art presents in this book (as he does on his radio program) a detailed overview of a wide variety of odd occurrences that are now growing in frequency and hypothesizes that all of these can be traced to a single source: 'The Source'. Thank you Art and Brad for all of your contributions over the years!

Lots of Ideas,
By TheHighlander (Richfield, PA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Source: Journey Through the Unexplained (Paperback)
This book covers a lot of ground including the mysteries of human origins. Was man actually around with the dinosours? If not, why are their paintings of such found in caves? Could earth actually be a giant prison colony? Were humans genetically engineered as a "worker" race for extra terrestrials? Has there actually been more than one species of human beings on earth? Although this book offers a lot of ideas that should warrant thought it offers little proof behind them. But ideas should always be considered. Most statements that are offered as fact can not be followed up and verified easily. The authors offer no dates, towns, or books of reference on many of the things they present. But again, give them fair contemplation. What of the Apkallu? or Oannes? Teachers of the ancient mesopotamian civilization, who were they, where did they come from? Were there prehistoric nuclear blasts? Some evidence is offered, or deduced is a better word. Were Eisenhour & Churchill worried about an alien invasion of earth? Are alien races at conflict over the control of the future of earth? Are aliens demonic in nature? Will calling for the help of Jesus thwart an alien abduction? Are we experiencing the battle of good and evil? Demons and angels battling for our soul? The list of ideas in this book range far and wide. Could alien sightings be caused by electromagnetic field variations and their perceptions by the temporal lobes of the human brain? Are their alien bases on the moon? How do some major religions compare in their beliefs of the end times? See many, many faulty predictions. And the age old question of what is time? This book is very interesting but I don't feel really "teaches" you much. But it is thought provoking and it does force you to "think". It encourages you to contemplate the possibilities of what is being presented. You should read this book among many other books on the subject/subjects presented. This book can be a good starting place for many paranormal thoughts and ideas of the unexplained that we face today. The more we know, the less we understand. This book address's what we think we may know and what we probably don't understand.

Quite a re-SOURCE,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Source (Hardcover)
Sometime nebulous ... sometimes prolific ... THE SOURCE is a conglomeration of a variety of topics that could have been (and have been) dealt with better as individual books. However, the premise of the book warrants combining these sometimes disparate elements into one compelling theme. If you believe the ending, it will change the way that you look at your world.

Fascinating Book!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Source (Hardcover)
I've read quite a few books concerning the material in "The Source" from authors like Zecharia Sitchin, Erich Von Daniken, R.L. Dione, and Whitley Strieber. With the exception of Whitley Strieber and R.L. Dione (God Drives a Flying Saucer) most of those weirdo author's books about aliens suck and are boring to read. But Art Bell's style is unique, he doesn't go into too much boring details about translating ancient texts and cave paintings, he gets the main evidence and assembles it nicely in a way which enables anyone who isn't an archeologist to understand what he's talking about. "The Source" is a good journey through the unexplained, but if you want a VERY comprehensive study of the material in his book then look in the bibliography in the back of it and check out some of those authors.

Thanks for The Source,

The Source began to answer a lot of questions that have been swimming around in my head for a while, and now I'm enthusiastically off to search for even more. My thanks to Art Bell, who planted the seeds for many of those questions over the past year, and Brad Steiger. I'm ready to read more of Mr. Steiger's books, and waiting for Art to write more! I appreciate that the Source is easy to understand and was especially intrigued by the Millenium and Ancient Civilization sections. This is stuff we all need to, at the very least, consider as we realize our place in the universe.

A Plethora of Truth!!!!,
By Mike Sivilli (Bayonne, New Jersey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Source (Hardcover)
In this book, Art Bell and Brad Steiger cover everything from origins of the human species to crop circles to Area 51 to UFO abductions to government coverups and conspiracies to religion. This is a historic look at unexplained phenomena in the universe. Both authors have covered matters regarding the unusual, the weird, and the unknown for years. Here, together, they explore each of these subjects thoroughly, leaving the reader with the facts needed to come to an educated conclusion as to the source of it all. This book has never been proclaimed to be one of Art Bell's "better works"; it pales in comparison to The Coming Global Superstorm and The Quickening as far as sales and popularity. But, it is my particular favorite of all his books because it covers such a wide range and varietal array of topics.

It is an average book.,

A good introduction. It is sort of the "Dummies guide to UFO's". If you have a high school project or a college course on this subject, then you might want to get the book.
The book has about as much "meat" in at as this review.

Fun journey,
By U.F.O. nut (nowhere) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Source (Hardcover)
The Source is a good introduction to the unexplained. It might not be extremely helpful to the veteran UFO buff, but it's still a fun book to read anyway. It covers a wide range of topics such as: UFO's, ghosts, Alternative 3, Indian prophecies, ancient astronauts, lost civilizations, crop circles, and much more. Also, the bibliography has some interesting references as well.

I love listening to Coast to Coast. I know people who do not want to open their mind will not enjoy this book. With some other reviewers make it sound that everything Art rights he says is the truth. This is a farse. Art just puts down many view points of people that has been on his show. You have to take everything with a grain of salt, I think its just a fun read. I don't beleive everything I read in any book, but if you are looking for one that is just fun then pick this one up. If you are going to take all of it serious then you are a nut, but if you don't open your mind and ponder it then then don't waste your time.
