First, I'm not a doctor or any sort of medical professional. So take my advice with a grain of salt. I've met many people who suffer from IBD and what often works for one person may not work for or even hurt another. Digestive diseases and symptoms can exist for myriad reasons. My sense is that no two cases are identical.
Disclaimers aside, I have a mild case of IBD. Enough to disrupt my life and force serious changes to my diet. To put down a recent flare, I researched various anti-inflammatory supplements to complement the prescription med I take. Unfortunately, Fish Oil upsets my stomach in therapeutic dosages. The other complication is that I had an ulcer and gastritiis, on top of IBD. Anti-inflammatories like curcumin and bromelain can upset the duodenum and worsen ulcer/gastritis symptoms. So I needed something that'd provide anti-inflammatory effect without upsetting my Ulcer. Research suggested that Boswellia might be an option. In some small studies, it's proven effective in treating ulcerative colitis and does not appear to upset ulcers or gastritis.
So 2 weeks ago, I began taking Source Naturals Boswellia 3 times a day (with meals to increase bio-availability). Within a few days, my symptoms (those with IBD know them) began to dissipate. After 2 and a half weeks, my symptoms are completely gone, I'm off my prescription med, and I've gained almost 10 pounds. Granted, I also follow the SCD diet (cheating only for sweet potatoes and quinoa). I've had IBD long enough to know that I'm not cured. There will probably be more bumps along the road and it'll be 2 steps forward and 1 back until I learn the ins and outs of my condition. But for now, Boswellia is working magic.
