DIM is an extract from brocolli. It acts as a catylst in the processing of estrogen. It makes the process aeorobic and you get a complete breakdown into the estrogen 2 form (the good estrogen). Otherwise the breakdown is anaeorbic and you don't get a complete breakdown. So you get the estrogen 16 form (the bad estrogen). Since our modern world includes so many estrogen mimicers (plastics, pesticides, and hormones given to cows and cattle), most Americans have way to much estrogen. Older men who don't make as much testosterene as they used to, can actually have more estrogen than their wives. A really nice benefit of the estrogen 2 form is that it bumps testosterene off receptor sites, and you get a lot free floating testosterene (with all the benefits you would expect). I strongly recommend this product for both men and women. Older men should take four tablets per day.

There are two reasons I take DIM. The first is as Mark noted, as an estrogen control product (ensuring "good" estrogen -- this product doesn't eliminate it). The second reason may stem from the first: it helps greatly with my acne. Within a week of just taking one tablet a day, I received an unsolicited comment on the clarity of my skin from my girlfriend. Shortly thereafter I resumed taking probiotics (only ones which have guaranteed potency at consumption). As a precaution, I take the DIM 1 tablet a day 5 days a week, then take a few months off once I run out, although preliminary studies show it to be relatively safe. One important note: this product contains phosphatidyl choline and Bioperine which may increase absorbtion/utilization. To be safe you should check into Bioperine's active ingredient Piperine which inhibits CYP3A4

I bought this to relieve breast pain associated with PMS. It totally eliminated the pain. Apparently DIM helps metabolize out the "bad" estrogens. Highly recommended if you have this problem. No short of miraculous for me.

Given that doctors will no longer prescribe hormone replacement therapy for post menopausal women, I started taking DIM in an effort to restore my hormonal make-up to pre-menopause homeostasis. DIM works naturally to restore hormonal balance by reducing estrogen levels. When I began taking DIM the best I hoped for was to stop losing muscle mass. Imagine my surprise when I looked in the mirror one day (something I am loath to do) and noticed the wrinkle between my eyebrows was almost gone. I was simply shocked. Dim removes wrinkles from the inside out. For women, the dose is 50mg twice daily.

After the pain of going through several colposcopies for low grade abnormal Pap smears, I started taking DIM after seeing a web site that said it could help. After taking it for six months, I'm normal!! No more abnormal, no more colposcopies. If you have low grade abnormal Pap smears and your doctor isn't helping, I highly recommend taking this! No side effects, only benefits! There is help and I've found it!

I was taking Meta I 3 C (Stabilized Indole-3-Carbinol) before I tried these. They seem to do the same thing, but also appear to stabilize my new mood swings more than the others. I think it's even helped with PMS, which I never had before. It's nice feeling like me again.I haven't noticed any change in my skin, so I can speak there. I also like that they're much more affordable than Meta I 3 C. Thank you Source Naturals.

Helped with cramps/PMS,

I have been taking this supplement for a few months now and it has greatly helped with my period/cramping. I am 43, overweight and take one pill a day. I tried two pills a day but I did not feel as good. Previously, I had seen doctors for my cramping that would occur at least two weeks out of the month. I had backaches and headaches as well during this time. Basically, my periods and PMS were becoming quite worse as I became older. The doctor put me on Lupron last year which was not good. I felt temporary relief but had side effects. However, when the drugs effectiveness wore off, I was right back where I started. I did not want to go on the Pill or get a hysterectomy as the doctors recommended to control my pain. They thought I might have Endometriosis or issues with fibroids. Also, before taking DIM, I would spot off and on for 5 days before getting my period. However, now I spot one day before I get my full period. As with any supplement, it may not be for everyone and knowing how much to take can be difficult to determine. Anyway, I am very happy with my results and feel 75% better. It is not perfect, but my periods are now manageable :)

NOT a miracle in the bottle,

After reading all of these raving feedbacks on this product (and because most of those women had same symptoms that I have), I decided to give it a try. I've been taking it daily for three months now, and suddenly right after I started taking DIM, also started experiencing cramps and pain in my lower abdomen between my periods, my lower back, aches in my limbs and overall lack of energy. When my period actually came (about 1 week after I started taking DIM), it was much worse and more painful than it was before. I talked to my doctor and she said, that it might take some time for the product to start working and make any positive changes. I did want to stop taking it, that's how bad my cramps were, but because she told me to give it a longer try, I didn't. So it's been 3 months now, and I don't see any improvements yet - my periods are still heavy and very painful.

I started out taking Bio-response DIM, but I have been recommended to tak 400MG a day, and that one is very expensive. This DIM with the subscribe and save discount, is much more affordable.
