I bought this for my husband who has reflux & was put on Prilosec by his doctor. He now takes 2 Mastic Gum caps each morning upon waking & has cut his Prilosec dosage to 1/2 pill per day. He is now very comfortable & can eat just about anything in moderation. We are hoping that, in time, he can discontinue the Prilosec altogether.

I suffered complications from the flu & was having trouble eating just about any food without extreme stomach distress & resultant nausea & headaches. My doctor had no remedy, only that I repeat tests that already showed no results. I started taking one mastic gum cap each morning on an empty stomach & the distress has diminished greatly...so far no headaches & each day I feel better & better. I will take mastic gum forever if necessary!

I've used Jarrow Formulas as well. While Jarrow Formulas is cheaper, I believe I've had more effective relief with this brand.

I've been taking Mastic Gum along with DGL to relieve my gastritis. I agree with the other reviewer that this does provide some GERD relief. Especially if taken also at night with a stomach aloe formula (2tbs), I think it can provide some protection from a hyper-acidic stomach that usually causes damage and esophogeal spasms at night.

I don't believe this product removes the GERD acid reaction that is typical for me 2-4 hours after a meal. But I believe it's a good weapon to have among many things (smaller meals, eating slowly (don't overlook this!), avoiding certain foods, using high quality digestive enzymes). The digestive enzymes definately help (My doctor suggested Digestive Gold and I think it works really well). Avoiding foods that create a lot of acid, perhaps ones you're sensitive too, can help too. For me, that's a lot of refined starches and sugars. Salt can create more acid too (something about teriyaki marinades that sends my acid production skyward). Sugar can slow the digestion time of meats. And there are considerations for food combining that may also help you. Like never combining a starch with meat or eating fruits on their own. Search google for "food combining" to learn more.

For a while, I enjoyed the ignorant bliss of taking my Prilosec and eating what ever I wanted. Pizza twice a week or a big juicy burger at a restaurant loaded with condiments and salt. But there's a point where the Prilosec stopped working, even when doubled. And at that point, polyps emerged in my stomach that were thankfully not cancerous when biopsied. But they did have everything to do with a Proton Pump Inhibitor stopping my stomach from doing its naturally born duty.

That's where mastic gum, DGL, enzymes, responsible eating/lifestyle come in. Good luck in your quest for relief. I think Source Naturals is very good. Many of thier products have worked well for me.

I bought this product as it is good for the H-pylori bacteria that causes some ulsers. I figured it is natural pitch so would give it a try. We are happy with the results. No more tummy pain. It might work for you.

My husband was having severe stomach issues. He had a history of stress induced ulcers several years ago that resolved by drinking raw cabbage juice 2 times a day. However about 6 months ago we went through a very stressful situation and he started complaining of really bad heartburn whenever he drank water between meals, this progressed severe belching (that seemed endless, we wondered, where does all the air come from?) with pressure in the base of his throat and severe acid regurgitation that was so bad at night that he couldn't sleep.

I should note that he is extremely healthy, eats a whole food diet, isn't overweight and is an avid athlete.

We did some research and decided that H-pylori was a possibility. We bought the mastic gum he started experiencing relief immediately. Within 10 minutes he was still belching but he had no heartburn- he said it tasted like pine trees. Which, he says, was quite pleasant after all the heartburn.

After he started the mastic gum and it had a positive effect, we put him on a gluten and dairy free diet, manuka honey 1 tablespoon 3 times a day, and cabbage or broccoli shake daily (made in our Vitamix). Of all of this, however, we both feel the mastic gum had the biggest effect. This is an amazing product. I highly recommend it before getting on the endless train ride that the pharmaceutical companies will offer you (they don't want to cure you, a patient cured is a customer lost). My husband plans to take the mastic gum daily for a total of 3 months as is advised in the literature. He takes 1000mg on an empty stomach in the morning and at night.

I have had constant pain in my stomach every time I eat for 9 months, trying everything and not finding relief until I heard about mastic gum....wow!! this really works! I have only been taking it for about 4-5 days and can already feel the difference....the pain is almost gone...I highly recommend taking mastic gum to anyone who has tried it all(even the meds from the doctors,nexium etc.etc)...It feels so nice to eat food again and not waking up 2-3 times at night in pain!!!!

I use it to heal ulcers and have had great results!

During a scoping, my gastroenterologist found h pylori in my stomach. I was unable to tolerate the severe combination of antibiotics that is the usual treatment for that.

I have quite a bit of reflux and indigestion and stomach pain, and I find that the mastic gum capsules help it as well as anything.

Works great. Took it with DGL, and stomach symptoms eased after about 20 minutes. It eased my pain until I could see my doctor (which took me a week to get in).

I purchased the "Mastic Gum Extract" because I read that it could help an occaisional problem with acid reflux and indigestion. So far I have only taken it a few times and after symptoms occured. I believe that it provided relief at those times, and I will continue to use it in conjunction with a wheat-free and gluten-free diet. It is too soon to tell if the mastic gum extract can be a long-term and permanent fix. I am giving ths item 5 stars for product quality and shipping speed.
