Not recommended for acne treatment,
By
This review is from: Source Naturals Pantothenic Acid 500mg, 200 Tablets (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
If you're planning to use this particular brand of Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5) to treat acne, then be aware that these tablets contain a long list of "Other ingredients", including: sorbitol, microcrystalline cellulose, stearic acid, and collodidal silicon dioxide (I'm copying these straight of the label on the pack which is in front of me). Why is this important? Because the recommended dose of Vitamin B5 for acne is 10g per day (which is equal to twenty tablets at 500mg each). So you would be taking high doses of all these "other ingredients" along with the Pantothenic Acid.Sorbitol in particular is known to cause adverse effects when taken in large amounts. It has a laxative effect, which will give you diarrhea with very frequent bowel movements every day, and it appears that I developed laxative dependence on it from just one week of taking 10g a day, because when I stopped taking them I had sever constipation and other complications. If you intend to use this supplement as suggested on the label (1 tablet daily) or a similar relatively low dose, then ignore this review because I doubt the other ingredients (particularly sorbitol) would cause any problems at low doses. However, if you intend on mega dosing on this, for example to treat acne, then I recommend buying a different brand of Pantothenic Acid that doesn't contain a lot of other ingredients. There are a few of those on Amazon.com I hope this review proves helpful. Good luck.

Vegetarian B5 option,
This review is from: Source Naturals Pantothenic Acid 500mg, 200 Tablets (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
While Source Naturals does have 5 extra ingredients, it is a vegetarian B5 option. The Swanson B5 sold at Amazon has only 2 extra ingredients but one is gelatin made from animals. If this is important to you, maybe consider Source Naturals. I did some quick searching and it looks like sorbitol has the worst side effects of the Source Naturals extra ingredients.

2 tablets before bedtime seem to clear my allergic rhinitis so that snoring is not a problem! I am so pleased.
