R-lipoic acid by itself may be 10 times more effective than other forms of lipoic acid and has been called the mitochondrial antioxidant because it is a key component of mitochondrial dehydrogenase complexes, which may help to slow the natural aging process in animals. Also, animal research has shown that R-lipoic acid can increase or maintain levels of other antioxidants including CoQ10, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and glutathione, which may decline with age, more efficiently than other forms of lipoic acid (These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease). Suitable for vegetarians. Contains no yeast, dairy, egg, gluten, corn, soy or wheat. If you are feeling older than your years, you may wish to try this. It replaces that which age diminishes. Not a stimulant, so no caffeine like jitters or sugar highs and lows, it just helps you feel more like your former self, before you got "old".

One of those supplements that is great for overall health. Source Naturals is a well tested brand through independent lab testing, and the R-form of ALA is superior. Don't get regular ALA as that is the S- form and not well utilized by the body.

Even better if you can get the Na-R-ALA form, but this R- form will do as well. Knocked down a star since it's not the Na-R form, but still a solid supplement.
