Data are is given on more than 20,000 government agencies. The book is well organized, with a helpful two-part layout. The first section, the Public Record Primer, offers searching tips and discusses privacy issues. The second covers state agencies, including information on accessing state archives, criminal records, corporation records, vehicle ownership and driving records, accident reports, and GED records. Detailed research information is available on all 50 states. Another interesting feature is the city-county and zip code cross reference, great for ready reference. Overall, this clear and readable book contains comprehensive, accurate, specific information, including phone numbers, addresses, retrieval costs, time frames, web resources, office hours, and restrictions. The lack of an index does not diminish the book's value as a serious reference tool, as there is a useful table of contents and alphabetical state listings. I've worked with public records for some time and have bought many books . . . some good and some bad. This is the best I've come across. The information is current and the format is easy to use.

The depth of information provided, particularly in the county court and state agency sections, is very comprehensive. This book provides more locations and more details than anything else I've seen and I have them all.

If you work with public records, forget the other guides and put your money here . . . you won't be disappointed
