A message from Sharon:
I've never been good with boundaries.  When I'm told something can't or shouldn't be done, I'm usually incited to do it.  For the last few years, my writing impulses have taken me into a world of dark places and suspense. I have put my heart into Jeremy Stroeb and Robbie Ivy and experience the same fears and terror they do as they search for family and truth.  I write novels of suspense and I hope I've done it well.  IN THEIR BLOOD received a starred review from Publishers Weekly and the 2010 Benjamin Franklin Award for best mystery/suspense novel, and SOMEONE'S WATCHING also received kudos from the likes of Booklist and Publishers Weekly.  So why, when I'm on my way to establishing a successful brand as Sharon Potts--suspense novelist, would I decide to go against conventional wisdom and write and publish humorous contemporary fiction? Well, because I like Mozart and Dan Fogelberg and Degas and Picasso.  I'm not a one-track tape. Maybe you aren't, either.  I hope you'll have a look at my latest work--South Beach Cinderella. What can you expect when a thriller writer like Sharon Potts goes about writing a humorous love story about husband-hunting? That question, a big one in my mind, dissolved after the first few pages of "South Beach Cinderella." Potts is back with her trademark flesh and blood characters, this time featuring the lovable heroine Frankie Wunder whose quest I got so wrapped up in that I found myself doing that page turning, can't-put-this- down, thing.

Potts is still in thriller mode as far as keeping the reader on edge to see what happens next. The action clock is always ticking. Frankie's is one of them. Married for 12 years and still childless, she discovers that other women have been getting much more of her husband's loving than she. Frankie is a highly successful Miami Beach realtor and does not dawdle around making decisions. Hubby #1 is history, and Hubby #2 is to be rounded up post haste, marry her, and father a child. All candidtates must be rich, successful, and respected, and must agree to take care of her. Frankie is an organized person and knows how to go about a task, with method and focus. And she is pretty. With the exception of her choice of first husband, she makes few mistakes and is not used anymore to failure.

Frankie, big surprise, turns out to be just like you and me and everyone else, never mind her self-admitted control-freak personality and money-making talents. They are part of what's funny, and eventually Frankie finds that out for her ownself. The real Frankie is a sweet, totally human lady with the same problem we all have, or have had, or are having again - trying to figure out who is the right spouse - and that is whether you are a man or a woman, because guys will like this book as well as any female....

Loads of laughs, great writing, and a sweet story about hetting to know one's heart.

This is one of those books that needs the reader to suspend all belief and just read the story. We are supposed to go along with the idea that a smart, sane, contemporary woman who is capable of having a successful career selling houses that go for around $4 million would be capable of hopping into bed with four men she barely knows in the hope of conceiving a child and finding a superb husband within a couple of months of finding her husband cheating on her. It doesn't compute.

Having said that, I did finish this book, and the plot did keep moving right along. The whole book is a series of re-hashed chic lit scenes, but the writer is good enough that I kept on reading. Frankie, the heroine, has some pretty interesting girlfriends, and her soon-to-be ex is a stereotype, but a well-drawn one that I could live with.

Mercifully, the book has fewer of the grammatical errors that plague many e-books.

If we were back in college I'd call this book a solid C.

but I really liked it. So true of South Beach and the "phonies" who live in it. Being a floridian myself I get it. As for Frankie, yup, I know women like her, so it wasn't far fetched, I mean she's got an agenda even tho it makes no sense, but at least she follows it through. Very fun book. I was surprised how much I liked it, that I even bought her other two books as well. The writing is better in her third book, but the first one was good as well, onto book 2 now. Thanks Sharon keep up the good work.

This book was okay, but very disappointing. I was expecting something along the lines of Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez' writing, but this was kind of a story about a woman whose clock is ticking and she just wants a man to have a baby with. It's obvious throughout the storyline who she'll end up with, and when she does end up with him, it's like this QUICK dramatic ending that leaves you wondering why you read the whole book for - that. :-/ Overall I wouldn't recommend.

This was a fun, quick, amusing read for me. Some reviewers dinged the book because it was hard to imagine an intelligent, successful woman throwing herself at rich, powerful men...all in the name of trying to find a man who wanted to be a husband, take care of her, and give her a baby. While I agree that in today's world, a woman in her situation would more likely chose to have her baby and be a single mother until the "right" man was found, I found it entertaining to read all the ways she conspired to meet her objectives. I really think the author meant for this story to be somewhat fanciful so that it would be more amusing rather than depict a realistic struggle. With that said, I quickly read the book, enjoyed the heroine's "journey"...and did not have to identify at a personal level to feel her pain. Although the plot and moral of the story were predictable, Sharon's method of writing makes this a fun read, and I highly recommend this book if you want to read something light and entertaining.

I'm a big Sharon Potts fan. Her writing is always humorous and, even when she's exploring the dark side of people's behavior, she makes you feel like she cares about her characters.

South Beach Cinderella shows an array of characters interacting with each other in ways that you know are going to lead to disaster!

Let's just say that I believe I've run into every one of these characters and I loved what happened to them!

More About the Author

As a writer, I never know where I will find inspiration for my next novel. The spark for my newly released thriller, THE DEVIL'S MADONNA, came when I discovered an old tattered carton in an upstairs closet. It was filled with scrapbooks and publicity photos of my mother-in-law, who had been an actress in 1930s Berlin. I was intrigued by the incongruous glamor of the photos, taken shortly before a very dark period in history. And I thought...what if? What if there had been another young, beautiful actress? Perhaps a fearful, desperate woman with a hidden identity. And what if this actress became involved with the wrong people and did things that would haunt her and her descendants throughout their lives? And so I wrote THE DEVIL'S MADONNA, set in present day Miami Beach and 1930s Berlin. In it, a young artist, pregnant with her first child and a recent convert to Judaism, tries to unravel her grandmother's past, never imagining just how terrifying the truth could be.
