Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Sins of South Beach is the true story of one of the most spectacular renovations that any city has ever undergone and of the seedy underside that fueled its fire. Filled with sex, drugs, violence, and corruptions, Mayor Daoud's life and career embodied South Florida during the 1980s. Sins of South Beach is the story of the rise of a city and the fall of its architect - and serves as a reminder that power is intoxicating.

5.0 out of 5 stars A thriller of how politicians interact with each other and the public, December 24, 2007
I could not put this book down. I have read many books about how political agendas work and about knowledge that the public is often unaware of. This book is not only an amazing and entertaining thriller, but also a valuable and essential tool for those that are fascinated by the world of politics. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in forming community initiative groups that wish to work with any government agencies to make our world a better place to live in. This book made me more aware that Democracy in the United States does not really exist unless we all knock in our elected officials doors constantly. Bravo for Alex for having the courage and energy to write this book. I wish you success in all your endeavors my friend. Many blessings.

5.0 out of 5 stars What an amazing read!, November 5, 2007
By SOBE Mike (South Beach) - See all my reviews
I've lived in South Beach for the past five years and visited here on many occasions prior to that. I always knew that South Beach was a decadent place. Obviously, I had no idea to what extent! Wow, what an eye-opening book. I will never look at my adopted hometown quite the same way. I bet there are some VERY anxious "Pillars of the Community" who certainly wish this book was never written! This book pulls no punches. I absolutely loved it!
