Received on time and was really well packaged to protect it.

After extending it out, I had a difficult time determining whether or not it was a telescoping rod or a two-piece rod. It felt that strong and good in my hand. The cork grip is very comfortable in the hand and enhances the control of casting that I desire. The rod sections fit very well with no slippage or accidental collapsing. The one thing that threw me was the tip section...it has a "sliding" eyelet in it that you adjust to where you want....about midway for me should do. This actually is a good thing because it gives you two eyelets on the tip section, helping to prevent breakage of the tip.

More strength equals more control. I like that.

Very flexible with a good whip action to it. The ceramic eyelets are a big plus in my book. Protects the line and makes it easier when casting and spooling in. I fitted it with a Daiwa Sweepfire 4000 and loaded the reel with Trilene 15# line. Balance seems a little heavy in the back with that large reel, but can easily be compensated for. Will be getting it wet this weekend for some catfishing.

I have two other brands of telescoping rods....this automatically became my favorite and stays with the tackle bag where-ever I go.

UPDATE: 03/10/2014

After almost 6 months of using this rod, I still find it may favorite rod so much that I ordered another. Both are fitted with Quantum SD-3000 spin reels and about 100 yards of 10# braided line. Both are as versatile as you can get. From trout to bass fishing to catfishing. From using lures to soft and live baits, I couldn't be happier with the rod.

I used for a total of 2 hours before tip section snapped. It was made from a brittle wood section, not graphite. So by definition - very poor manufacturing quality due to the materials used.

Also, one of the eyelets for the line was not attached to an actual section of the telescopic rod, which is out of the norm. An eyelet for the line (2nd smallest near the tip) slid up and down the final section. However, this is a minor point when compared to the materials used.

I would recommend choosing another product. Needless to say, I will be selecting a different product since I know have to replace the Proton rod after minimal use.
