That being said, there are plenty of little flaws and missteps you'll spot along the way. It almost feels wrong to complain, knowing what a rare thing we've got here. But it feels like an even greater version of this game was so close... Anyway, how about a few spoiler-free bullet points I think might be helpful?
-Feel free to explore the town early on. Much of what's out there seems meant for low level characters.
-You can use any gear, regardless of class.
--Oh, and there is a TON of it!
---You won't have time to use even half of it.
-----And it's so cool that this will make you a little sad
-------Or a lot sad. I don't know how delicate you are
-When it comes to dressing, you can probably go for fashion above function
--I fussed over it so much throughout the game
---But later in the game, I tried without armor and had no trouble
-the "junk" you find has no use
--I only say that because I collected a lot of junk that looked like it might be used for a crafting system
-for some strange reason, the lowest level potions are almost always enough to get the job done
--oh, and don't be afraid to use them
---you can only carry 10(!Read more ›
Ok now those questions are out of the way, let’s talk about South Park: The Stick of Truth. To get straight to the point, after so many delays, this game truly delivers in ways that most games licensed on TV shows or movies usually don’t. Quite frankly, if you have never followed South Park in the 17 years that it’s been on the air, this isn’t for you and it’s rare to find a gamer or a follower of geek culture who hasn’t followed it at some point.
As many of you already know, you play as ‘the new kid’ in your quest to defeat the ‘drow elves’ who have stolen the titular object from Cartman, the Grand Wizard of the Kingdom of Kupa Keep, also known as the KKK. Yes, you read that correctly. So your quest is to go out and recover the stick with help from the South Park gang.
The game feels like a long version of a South Park episode which surprisingly, never gets old. My biggest fear was 3 hrs in you would start to hear some of the same tired jokes but if anything, you are still discovering new locations and characters as well as learning new mechanics. I really loved the fact that no matter where you go in the game, you can find something that has been a part of the South Park lore even from its inception whether it be an item you can sell or something you can use such as chin-balls, the Okama Gamesphere and even cheesy poofs. It’s really one of those times where you can say if it’s in the show, it’s in the game.
As far as the gameplay is concerned, South Park plays out similar to a JRPG just more coherent.Read more ›
Even better, Parker and Stone use the game as a vehicle for making fun of videogames. Ever wonder why some games have you finding and listening to audio recordings as you move through a level? Parker and Stone sure have, and seeing how they skewer videogame tropes throughout The Stick of Truth is a big part of the fun.
Bottom line: Very good game; GREAT videogame adaptation of a classic show.
You come to South Park as the new kid and don't say anything to entire game. In fact you don’t get a name, no matter what you put they still name you Douche-bag. You can choose your class, and then you start fighting for the stick of truth, who's path twists and turns a lot throughout the story-line.
You gain special powers through out the game that help you with missions and finding special collectibles. Also when you beat the main story-line you can continue playing any missions you missed. Feel free to pick a companion from the original South Park crew. Get updates from your Facebook friends as you make a large amount of Facebook friends. Also learn powerful fart techniques that help you throughout the game, you can also make people puke with them.
Before you buy this game for yourself or for another person, there are some questions you have ask yourself. Are you prepared to be probed by aliens with something that looks suspiciously like a dildo? Can you travel inside of a mans rectum to give a bomb an abortion? Do you believe in Man-Bear pig? How do you feel about becoming very tiny and fighting a gnome underneath your parents while they're frickle fracking? If you answered no to any of these questions this game is not for you, because there are more perverse things beside these.
I was surprised by how interactive the game was. It felt like an ongoing episode of South Park that you get to be a apart of. There aren't any unique dialogue and basically only one way to go with the story-line but still it was fun.
